What do you personally like about the Resident Evil franchise?

I'm not one to play horror games and Resident Evil is no exception. I've often been cynical about the game because apart from its superb soundtrack, the series has almost no genuine horror except for jump scares. What do you like about the series, and are there any iconic moments that make the series a classic for you?

I'm only familiar with the film series, I've never played the games... and I like them because there are hot girls with guns in them killing lots of zombies. What more do you really need to have a good time with a movie? big_smile

That's a fairly good point. Sadly the games have minimal hot girls and "loads" of zombies is usually limited to 5 being on the same screen. ^^

I haven't played many of the resident evil games, but I've been impressed with the few I've tried. I played the remake of the original with my brother (the gamecube version) and it was suitably creepy. The dated controls and fixed camera angles could get frustrating, but it had a much more isolated feel than later games that increased the level of unease.

Some time after that I played Resident Evil 4 (again for the gamecube) and it was a great experience overall. My favorite moment from that game was a shootout in a house I had barricaded. That was the first game I ever played where a head shot actually made things worse! I also enjoy the mythos from the games, with umbrella and big bads like wesker. And the large cast of characters offers a unique perspective for each game.

I don't play every game, but certain installments catch my eye. The most recent would be Resident Evil Revelations, where you're investigating a monster filled boat in the middle of the ocean. Still need to pick that one up.

I loved Resident Evil 1 and 2 but that's about it. I RE 3 and above. RE movies ruined the franchise imo.

I love the resident evil franchise because it was something I grew up with ever since I was 2. The first game I knew and loved was RE 4 later on I grew to love every single game except for RE 7 because it didn't follow the old storyline I grew up learning so much about.

I was never really a fan of the movies since it focused on only Alice and all the others had so much more potential.

I also love to role play RE games and I can relate to one of the characters so much (Ada Wong)I even started daydreaming that the RE games were real!

One more thing if any of you want to test me and see how big a fan I am. COME AT ME BRO!
