Majora's Mask on the N64.
It's funny, but more often than not every 'favourite video game' thread ends up being an RPG fest.
GTA 4
The game is fantastic, a true work of art, and should be owned by anyone who considers themselves a fan of video games. Grand Theft Auto does so many things right that calling it a "sandbox" title is doing it a harsh disservice. It does shooting better then many shooters, driving better then many racing games, and has a better, more involved story then half of the most popular RPGs.
counterstrike 1.6... In my opinion! love that game overall my favorite by far.
Kingdom of Hamil. No pictures, just text. But maybe that was before you were born.
PONG!
HubPages said my answer was too short so I will add that it was the first commercial video game. Fun and addictive!
Hard decision, but I would have to say Final Fantasy 9
Kingdom Hearts hands down. Played both. I doubt they'll come out with another one though.
Earthbound for the SNES. It's a parody of classic RPGs. Like any good parody, it's equal in depth and fun to the classics it parodies, just a lot funnier.
contra! Megaman, castlevania, mario, streetfighter, spyro, crash bandacut, sonic are the best reacurring games ever!
Caesar III : city building
Pirates : Video game
Fifa 2000 : Sports game
Unreal : 3d fps
gears of war could not stop playing it. Online quality is great....
Psychonauts
There may have been games I enjoyed more, but Psychonauts was witty, fun to play, and, best of all, imaginative. It's a game a lot of people overlooked, and that's a shame.
Syndicate
It is the only take-over-the-world game that I have played where I enjoyed taking over the world because I got to do it -my- way. Missions are, except for core parameters, open-ended, with no "right" or "wrong" way to accomplish them. The over-all campaign structure is equally open-ended because after 5 missions, the game starts letting the player choose which country gets invaded next. Granted, the overarching goal is to take everything over, but at least despised missions don't have to be tackled right away and can wait until the player can equip the field agents with genocide-grade equipment.
An often-overlooked RPG element is player-driven plot progression. Many games allow character customization up the wazoo, but only Syndicate allows the player to get off of the treadmill and walk somewhere else.
street fighter 2. No doubt about it. Back in the good old days
Can't decide between Tomb Raider or Medal of Honour: Frontline, both great games at the time.
I will take this to my grave. Super Mario Bros is my all time favorite game. I have purchased two NES systems to continue playing it. BTW, i have every console Nintendo has ever produced. Gotta have Mario.
