When my siblings and growing up board games were the most exciting part of the Holidays-we looked forward to seeing our cousins because we could play different games with them. How times have changed- my nephews for example would rather spend the Holidays in front of their computers instead of the Family Room. Despite the behavior of 'modern kids'- board games are still holding their own. Apart from being tactile and interactive, board games are a great way to get the whole family involved in an activity or encourage interaction between siblings. This article features some of the best games for kids and the whole family to enjoy this holiday season. Many are also nominees in this year’s Toy Industry award for the category Best Games.

Players with two matching cards have to ‘snatch the totem’ the player with the quickest reflexes wins a point after snatching the totem. It may sound simple but beware not to grab the totem unless you are sure-especially since some cards may look like others but are different. If two cards are identical, those players must make a grab for the Totem. The aim of the game is to have no cards left. The game includes 80 Cards and one Rule Book and is suitable for 3 -8 players ideal for the family.
