The game of Cuponk will get you up out of your seat and into the action.

Love playing games with your family or friends, but getting tired of the same old ones? Cuponk is a great family or party game with quite a bit of a twist!

Twisting your wrist, and sometimes other parts of your body, that is! Your goal is to get the ping pong ball into the Cuponk cup, often by first bouncing it off the wall, floor, table, over your head, or maybe even over another player!

It's also an excellent game to play by yourself, as you make up and try out new creative tricks! Be creative and have fun! That's what Cuponk is all about!

How do you play Cuponk?

Cuponk is a lot like an indoor version of the basketball game of Horse....only with ping pong balls, instead of a basketball!

In Cuponk, each player in turn draws a card that tells them what task they must do. If successful, they earn the points mentioned on the card.

  • For four points, a player may have to bounce the ball off both walls of a corner before it lands in a cup on the floor.
  • Or for three points, they may have to do a "backspin" in which the ball bounces on the table and then back towards them into the cup on the floor.
  • For two points, make the ball pass in an arc over your head and land in the cup you're holding on the other side of you.
  • One card even enlists the help of another player who must lie on the floor and let the ball bounce first on one side of them and then into the cup on the other side!
  • Some cards get two balls into action at once!
  • Can you complete a "Knuckle Sandwich," "Knee Jerk," "Mug Shot," or "King of the Lob?"

If the first player is not able to complete the task, the next player gets a shot at it. What if no one can master a particular trick? No problem! Just put it in the discard pile and draw a new one!

It's fun to make up your own shots too!

I suggest starting with the ones illustrated on the cards that come with the game, but as you get more experience and gain more skill, experiment with your own ideas! This game is all about having fun! In this game, you don't have to play by the rules!

As you'll see in the videos below, both kids and adults enjoy getting highly creative with their ideas! What ideas can you come up with? Be creative and have fun!

Many kids (and adults) spend hours setting up and playing on their own Cuponk courses.

Here are some incredible shots a group of kids made up!

How long does it take to play?

Only have 10 minutes to play? No worries! Play however long you'd like!

Have 2 people, or 10? That's fine too!

What else do I need to know about the game?

Keep score or not; it doesn't really matter because the fun is in attempting the various tricks!

Most versions of Cuponk, including the one linked to here, are very inexpensive! (If you visit the link above, I think you'll be surprised at just how inexpensive they are!) They'd make a great gift under the Christmas tree this year, leaving you money for other gifts as well!

Consider the game not only for children, teenagers, and families, but also for college students ( it won't take up much room in the dorm and may have everyone on the hall wanting to join in!) and young adults. My whole family enjoys Cuponk!

How noisy is it?

The Cuponk game that I have, although it does make a small noise, is actually fairly quiet. When someone gets the ball into the cup, the game has a light that flashes and a soft song that plays, but really, both the sound and light is pretty tame in this game. The ping pong ball makes a louder noise as it bounces on the floor or table than the cup does.

In the picture shown here, you can see the lights down near the bottom that turn on when someone makes a successful shot.

Oh, by the way, if you don't turn on the switch, you can play the game without the lights or songs coming on at all! The game works just as well with the switch turned off!

More Games You May Like

Here are some more games my family enjoys!

Quoridor

In Quoridor, whether the kid version or the adult version, you try to get your piece across the board before your opponent(s) can. So what's holding you back? The walls set up by your opponent(s)! In fact, the board turns into a maze as the game progresses! Each turn you must decide whether to move your own playing piece (which is a mouse in the children's version of the game) or set up a wall to block someone else. Don't think of it as just a kids' game though! Adults love it too! I know I do! For 2 to 4 players.

This game is similar to Cranium, but has a cave man theme! You get to practice your cave man skills of sketching with charcoal, primitive speaking, miming, and sculpting with clay. For 3 to 12 players.

Break The Safe

Break the Safe is a cooperative game where either everyone wins, or no one does! Work together as a team to get all the keys, insert them into the safe, and turn the clock off before time is up! Watch out for the security guard and the dog! Various tools, such as the Gas Mask, Bug Spray, Ice Suit, Deflection Mirror, and others can disarm the many booby traps, such as poison gas, killer bees, barbed wire, and so on. Game play is around 30 minutes. For 2 to 4 players.
