Toys For Teens
Toys For Teens? OK, Maybe Just some Great Gift Ideas
Teens seem to just want money or gift cards for holidays and birthdays. But sometimes you want to get them a gift that feels more personable. There still are neat toy ideas for teens as well as some creative ways to give them. Many of my nieces and nephews are teens, as are my own kids, so I came up with a few ideas to be creative the next time you want to give a gift card. Also listed are some toys that are still appropriate for teens.

Creative Ways to Give Gift Cards
Sometimes you feel it's best to give a gift card to your favorite teen. Here are some unique ways to do just that:
Buy a T-shirt with the clothing store's name on it and wrap a gift card to that store with it. So if your son likes Joe's Clothing Store. Try to find an inexpensive shirt or other clothing item with the name of the store on it. Then wrap a gift card with it. This way you put thought into an item but are also letting them pick out their own items later on.
Teens love food. But instead of buying $20 worth of food, just buy them a favorite item or candy and tape a gift card to it. You'd be surprised, one year I asked what my nephew wanted and he wanted grocery store gift cards so he could buy his own food.
If your teen is driving, consider a gas station gift car. To be creative tape it to a calendar that has a topic he/she likes.
Jewelry and hair accessory stores are great as well. Buying stud earrings and attaching a gift card to the box can be a great idea.
Take the small gift card and wrap it in a big box. That really throws them off.
Make your teen go on a scavenger hunt to find where the hidden gift card is. Make them work for their gift (the hunt could actually involve doing chores if you want to torture them, :)

What do you get teens for gifts?
If giving a gift to a teen, which of these choices are you more apt to give?
Coca-Cola Personal 6-Can Mini Fridge
SSHHHH don't tell my son, but I just ordered him one of these for Christmas. He had mentioned that it would be neat to have a mini fridge in his room, but he should be surprised when he opens it. I'll write a review of this item after we have it in the house a while.
So technically this isn't a toy, but it's a cool addition to a teens room when they want a chilled water or something while reading or doing homework, etc.

Teens enjoy creating and designing.

I'll Fly Away
Well maybe I won't fly, but there are toys that do. My daughter got very skilled at flying her helicopter. I was sitting in the family room and she flew it into the room and had it hovering right at my head. Great skill but my reaction was to swat it out of the air, ha ha. (luckily I held myself back and just laughed).
So these helicopters make great gifts. I bought the entry level one once and it only lasted six months, if that. So I went with a mid priced one & it still works great! In fact below is the Amazon link to the one I got in Dec 2012. It is still being used.
Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter - Blue
