Saving and Publishing Your Hub

Once your Hub is arranged and filled with everything that you'd like to include, your next step is get it saved and published so that the rest of the Internet can give it a read. As you can view below in Figure 3.29, there are main 3 options that you have to choose from once you have your Hub to a point to where it's completely finished:

The Preview, Save Unpublished and Publish Buttons

Figure 3.29: The Preview, Save Unpublished and Publish Buttons.

  1. Preview: If you'd like to get a better look at what your Hub is going to look like once it's published, click the Preview button and you'll be shown a version of your Hub that will give you a fairly accurate view. When you hit the Preview button a new window will pop up and your Hub will be displayed as you've arranged it in the HubTool along with the additions of where various ads and your profile/contact information will be placed. If the preview of your Hub looks good, then you can close the window and prepare to publish it.
  2. Save Unpublished: As you're editing your Hub with the HubTool, HubPages is constantly saving your changes it real time (you'll see the 'working' icon at the top of the HubTool screen when this is happening), but if you'd like to officially save the work that you've put into a Hub without publishing it all you need to do is click the Save Unpublished button. By clicking this button all of your changes are saved, your Hub is taken out of Edit mode and you're taken to a saved version of your Hub (which is also a good way to preview your work). If you try to exit Edit mode without clicking the Save Unpublished button first, you will be promted with a question that asks if you are sure that you want to leave Edit mode without saving. We don't want you losing any of that hard work, now do we?
  3. Publish: Once your Hub is looking exactly the way that you'd like, clicking the Publish button is the last thing that you need to do before your Hub can make it's way into the Internet for all the world to see. When you click the Publish button alot of things are set into motion behind the scenes and after a couple of seconds your Hub will be officlally published. All that you need to do now is pat yourself on the back, you're now a living, breathing Hubber -- so what Hub are you going to publish next?

After you save your Hub for the first time without publishing, the button options will change slightly to reflect that it's no longer a brand new Hub. As you can see below in Figure 3.30, the 3 button options will then be Preview, Publish Now and Done Editing.
