Often times, the only way to overcome these obstacles is to come to a place of mind where you decide you are not going to procrastinate any longer. Taking action is the best way to overcome anything.
Here are 10 things you should always say to yourself in the morning to help you develop as a person.
1. I LOVE YOU.
This can be the hardest thing for people to say to themselves, and that is why I listed it as number one. Before you can truly love other people, you need to come to a place where you learn to love yourself -- including the things that you might not like about yourself. You should always be working on the things you don't like about yourself, but that shouldn't stop you from telling yourself that you love you.
2. DON'T GIVE IN TO FEAR
When you look yourself in the mirror, I want you to say, "don't give in to fear." Fear is the most crippling feeling that keeps so many people from accomplishing their goals and achieving their dreams. It will take a lot of work, but the best piece of advice I can give you is to just go out there and do what scares you, regardless of the outcome. You will be more happy with yourself after doing what has scared you to do for so long than to not have taken any action at all, even if the outcome wasn't what you wanted it to be.
3. FAILURE IS A PART OF LIFE
Maturity is realizing that we can't be successful at everything. It may take you a thousand attempts and a thousand failures before you can succeed at something. Failure won't always be a part of your life, but don't be fooled, it will be there from time to time.
4. TELL SOMEONE YOU LOVE THEM TODAY
That's right. Even if you don't feel comfortable, tell someone you love them today. Preferably, tell someone you aren't that close to that you love them. It's not about making people feel uncomfortable. It's about letting others know that there is still love in this world. We live in a time of social distance. Society doesn't seem to have a hard time letting others know about hate and maliciousness. Be the person that reminds them about love.
5. DON'T THINK ABOUT PAST REGRETS
Some of us live in situations that remind us of past regrets. Though some people claim to live without regrets, many of us will admit that there times in our life that we wish we could go back and do differently. While very real, it is not healthy to constantly be reminded of things that we regret in life. Tell yourself that you won't think about past regrets today. If your mind seems to drift toward a regretful memory, do your best to focus on something else.
6. BE A FRIEND TODAY
It is very easy to take advantage of the friendships we have. More often than not, a friendship is not 50/50. In fact, many times one person gives way more than they get back. Don't be the person that only gives 20 percent in a relationship. Likewise, if you are the person that gives more than he receives, don't be discouraged and stop trying to extend a friendly hand. Be selfless in your relationships with others, whether they realize your kindness or not.
7. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Repetitive lifestyles become mundane. While it is almost inevitable to have completely different days everyday, it is possible to try to do something different in the mix. Always be on the lookout for opportunities to do things differently. There's something attractive about spontaneous people.
8. STOP WORRYING
When the stress gets too high from financial burdens, illness, insecurities and other obstacles, it becomes almost impossible to keep a clear mind. However, you must do your best to rid yourself of worry. Everything in life is not forever, including the predicament you may be in at this time. Try to find the positive in every day and not worry about the next.
9. LEARN SOMETHING NEW
There is always something that you can learn. The day you stop learning is the day you become complacent with life. Try to learn a new language, or skill. Pick up a new hobby. Do something that makes you use that noggin of yours. The rest of your body will thank you for it.
10. Don't BE AFRAID TO SAY HELLO TO STRANGERS
There is something exciting about being able to strike up a conversation with people you have never met before. One of the greatest social skills you can practice is being able to talk to people you don't know. Striking up small conversation with strangers is awkward and confusing. Moreover, the other person may not feel to comfortable talking with you. Learn the hidden social cues that tell you when to move on and when to continue in conversation. You will meet many new and exciting individuals by saying hello to strangers. Great quality friendships can come from this.
