Some of us complain, some ignore and some others just go on without ever noticing anything until it becomes too late. Stress relief comes from relaxation not from pills. Stress management helps us reduce risks of heart disease. Stress is also linked to cancer, brain diseases and diabetes.
Most people think they could work out in the weekend to relieve stress. That is a very bad strategy. The best way to beat stress is to detoxify everyday, unless you love to laugh, spent at least a few minutes multiple times a day. Do not say you are busy, you cannot find time for stress relief. You have to find time for an investment. Consider stress release as an investment. If you regularly detoxify you body of stress related toxins, your body will gain in terms of better health. Stress is like a marker, it stays in the body, the more stress you add the more chronic the effects would be. So how to de stress the body on a daily basis? There are 3 simple ways.
1. Breath Slowly for a few Minutes
Slow breathing is an excellent way to detoxify your body. This is not hard work. Anyway you breath every moment, then why not breath slowly for a few minutes, at least 3-4 times a day.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, just sit straight: your spine, neck and head must line straight. Observe your breath for a few seconds, then inhale slowly for a few seconds. Inhale for 3-4 seconds slowly and steadily, filling your lungs. Then exhale slowly, the time you take to exhale must be twice that you took to inhale, say you inhaled for 4 seconds then exhale for 8 seconds. Continue this cycle of slow breathing for 5 to 10 minutes. While you breath concentrate on your breath, do not allow your mind to wander. If you do this for 10 minutes you will feel the difference. Do it 4 to 5 times a day.
2. Relive Your Pleasant Past
This is to relax the mind. While sitting on your chair you close your eyes and think of something that is very pleasant happened in your life. Just relive that moment for a few minutes. You bathe yourself in that situation, completely forgetting your present state of mind. Do not go back and forth. Some people do that when they think of the past pleasant activities. That is bad for your mind, because it creates tension. Just think only of the past pleasant situation. Be there and enjoy those happy moments. Do this for 5 minutes for 3 times a day.
3. Read Inspirational Stories
One reason why most people get stressed is because they anticipate failure. They think something negative is going to happen. The thought of failure would lead to hopelessness and helplessness, which in turn aggravate stress and tension. Thoughts are interconnected, you start one negative thought, it opens another one. Read an inspirational story that motivates the power of perseverance. Once you understand perseverance you will realize success takes time and you have to prepare yourself for that. Read stories that would help you understand that turning points in life, even if negative, are not always bad. Do not expect life to maintain status quo. A negative change could lead to a better life. If you are fired from your job, it could be for better.
Spend at least 20 minutes a day to do one of these simple ways to relieve stress.
