4 Days Fruit Diet For Detox

Updated on February 13, 2012

I am not the unhealthiest nor am I the healthiest person alive but I do believe in having a balance. Being a person who love food and never can diet, not that I want to, I went through this 4 days fruit diet. I am glad I managed to survive but I have to admit, I did cheat a little. Before this, I have never had a habit of eating fruits and barely eat them too. The 4 days fruit diet totally changed my eating lifestyle. When I say change of eating lifestyle, it does not mean that I just live on fruits now but it does making me feel like eating fruits everyday. My taste bud has also changed, I like simpler food now too.

The 4 days fruit diet is very easy but just a matter of whether u have the determination to go through it:-

Day 1

Pineapple for breakfast

Papaya for lunch

Pineapple for dinner

*Do have a 2 hours break before the next fruit. In case you are wondering, I do not have reasoning behind this.

Day 2

Watermelon, whole watermelon would be ideal.

*If you find your urine reddish in colour, don't worry, it is normal.

Day 3

Prunes, strawberry or raisin

*For prunes, soak overnight to get it moist.

Day 4

Grapes

Note: You are supposed to eat as much as you can to fill your stomach.

I always thought that taking really acidic fruits like pineapple in the morning when your stomach is empty will cause gastric but I did not get gastric. I brought the fruits to office and I did not bring enough because I was still feeling hungry, so my advice is to do it when you are at home. It is hard to estimate how much you need to intake. So I said I cheated a little, days 1 and 2 went by with only having fruits the whole day, but came day 3 and I had food for dinner which means I did it only half a day. Same for day 4, I did it half day too. My hardest day was day 3 consuming the prunes, I literally came to a point that I felt like vomiting. I had those with seeds, it would definitely be easier with the seedless prunes. I found out later that strawberry have the same function too, if I knew earlier, I would have chosen to go with strawberries instead.

Why these fruits were chosen?

These fruits are corrective counterparts. Corrective counterparts in my own words are things which help give a beneficial function to a process. After the 4 days fruit diet, continue to have them and they will help you the following ways.

Pineapple - Burn it with pineapple after oily, fatty, creamy or cheesy food. Examples would be ice cream, cakes and fried food.

Papaya – Digest it with papaya after having your load of protein. Examples would be chicken, beef and lamb.

Watermelon – Wash it with watermelon after salty foods. Examples would be smoked salmon, salted fish and salted egg.

Prunes, strawberries or raisins – Unplug it with prunes, strawberries or raisins after an overdose of carbohydrate. Examples would be rice, bread and potato.

Grapes – Replace sweets for grapes.

Note: You can have it about 30minutes before or after 1hour your meal. These fruits could be substitute with others if they have the same kind of enzyme or function.

To conclude, 'what you eat is what you are', live life healthy and enjoy life. If you are looking for a healthy year ahead, do try it out and let me know whether it works for you.
