7 Home Remedies For Ovarian Cysts

Updated on December 25, 2015

A sac that is located inside the ovary and is filled with fluid is termed as an Ovarian cyst. Most of the times the sac and the condition have no symptoms. There may be bloating in some cases along with pain in the lower back or abdominal region. Severe pain occurs when the cyst breaks itself open or the ovary gets twisted. When this happens a feeling of faintness and /or vomiting engulfs the affected women. In most cases the cyst does not causes any harm.

The cyst is more common in pre-menopausal women and around 14% of post menopausal women are affected by the condition. In most cases, these cysts do not relate to any disease. In other cases there may be pain during bowel-movements, abdominal bloating, pelvic pain that may occur during or even before the menstrual cycle, menstrual irregularities and pain during conduction of sexual activities. Nausea, vomiting and pressure/pain in bladder and rectum apart from pain in thigh also characterize the condition. Some kinds of ovarian cysts also cause infertility.

There are a number of ways to treat the pain causing cysts at home. You can use these home remedies to get the benefits. Also consult your doctor so that you get diagnosed properly.

Here Are 7 Home Remedies For Ovarian Cysts

Heat Treatment

Heat can reduce pain in abdomen and also reduce muscle cramps that may occur because of the ovarian cysts. To treat the cysts with heat, just apply a warm heating pad or instead a hot-water bottle on the lower pelvic and abdomen area of the body. Do the process for at-least 15 minutes. You can undertake the remedy and process anytime you feel pain.

Castor Oil

Castor oil has ingredients that can remove the toxins and excess tissues away from the body. It can also dissolve and reduce the tissue and cells of the ovarian cysts as an aftereffect of its stimulation of circulatory and lymphatic system.

To treat your cysts with the castor oil pack, fold one large soft flannel cloth and make it 3 layers thick. The folded cloth should cover the entire abdomen area. Drizzle around 2 spoons of the castor-oil on the cloth, fold this cloth so that it gets saturated and then unfold it. Put the flannel cloth on our abdomen once you lie down.

Now cover the cloth with plastic and also add another layer of some towel on it. Place hot water bottle on and over the bottle and then cover the abdomen and your whole body with a warm and cozy blanket. The oil pack has to be applied for at-least half hour and then should be removed. Do the process 3 times every week until you get the benefits.

For cleaning and removing the oil residues form the skin. Wash the abdomen areas by using a water and baking soda solution (3 spoon of baking soda added in 4 water cups).

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea has a sedative effect and offers you prompt relaxation that is required in an ovarian cyst condition (which may also be causing pain). The warm tea also induces and stimulates regular blood flow in pelvic area of the body and the uterus.

To get adequate relaxation and pain alleviation, mix 2 spoons of the dried and raw chamomile tea in a cup of hot water and the cover the mixture. Steep for 5 minutes and then strain. Add 1 spoon of honey to the fresh tea and sip. Drink 3 cups of tea daily until you are fully releived from the situation.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt contains magnesium sulfate, a substance known for its muscle relaxant properties and also alleviates pain. To treat the cysts with the salt, add 1 cup of the salt to a bath tub that has been filled with lukewarm water. Also add around 10 drops of rose, jasmine or any other kind of essential oil. Stir for some minutes so that oil and salt dissolve completely in the water. Soak you body in the water tub for around 30 minutes. You can do the home remedy once every day till you get ample benefits and relief.

Beet Root

Beet root has Beta-Cyanin, a substance that improves the ability of the liver to clear the toxins away from the body. Beetroot is also alkaline in its pH and nature and can provide balance to the body acids.

To treat the ovarian cysts with beetroots, mix 1 spoon each of blackstrap molasses and aloe-vera gel into half cup of fresh and raw beetroot juice. Drink the juice at-least once every day until you have ample relief from pain. With time, the juices will provide you relief from the cyst.
