A Relief From Stress

There are many ways to relieve the stress in our lives; some are good and some bad. I have gone both ways. I like doing relief the good way much better than the bad.

There are many forms of stress. Stress can happen at home, at work, from family and friends and from complete strangers. Stress happens while driving, walking or just talking.

I have had stress upon stress. Here lately, one place that stress has come from is Facebook. From the stories I hear, I am not the only one.

Today we found a great way to deal with that stress. I will share it with you after I share these stress quotes with you.

Stress Quotes

  • There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them. ~Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar
  • Take rest; a field that has rested gives a bountiful crop. ~Ovid
  • No one can get inner peace by pouncing on it. ~Harry Emerson Fosdick
  • Stress is an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. ~Natalie Goldberg, Wild Mind
  • Releasing the pressure, it's good for the teapot and the water. Try it sometime. ~Jeb Dickerson, www.howtomatter.com
  • Stress is poison. ~Agavé Powers
  • Yovko Bonev ~ Stress is not a reaction. Rather it is the price we pay for the "civilized" life we live which by the way is not civilized at all ~
  • Author Unknown ~ Stress is when you wake up screaming and you realize you haven't fallen asleep yet ~

Today's Stress

I won't go into the stress I felt today but I will say it was all Facebook born and bred with a bit added from the Lebanon, Missouri forum. Lebanon is the town where my 23 month old Grandson was killed and no justice was done. I felt anger, hurt and pain. I wanted to scream and felt the veins in my forehead about to explode. I felt tears coming and my love just looked at me with a want and need to relieve the pain.

I went to the backyard and threw a couple rocks. I begged for God to strike me down so I wouldn't have to deal with stress anymore.

Life has been a series of stress after stress for me. I am sure it is for many, if not all, people. How is it some look as if they never have stress? Is it they are stuffing it all down until it just blows up? Are they dealing with stress in healthy ways or unhealthy? I wonder how many violent crimes are due to stress?

I went back up the stairs with the intent of firing stress back to the ones firing it at me, but Maggie, in her soft spoken and loving way, had a different idea,

Piñones, Puerto Rico.

How could I not love and adore this beautiful woman?

We read our daily Bible devotion and prayed and jumped in the car. Off to the beach we went.

Piñones-Loíza, Puerto Rico

This is a beautiful, breathtaking place with miles of beaches. There are shops and eateries to get authentic Puerto Rican foods like mofongo, bacalaitos and lechón. Drink beer or wine as you walk the beach or just get a cold coconut cut open with a straw inside to sip the sweet water within the shell.

Maggie and I just parked and walked into the water and smelled the salty breeze. It was slow for the beach as people are preparing for tropical storm Maria. We felt peace and serenity.

We walked hand in hand and took pictures. We praised our wonderful God for the peace and blessings He has given us, With all our stresses, He has blessed us with some paradise here on Earth--Puerto Rico.

Yes, as all places, Puerto Rico has stress, but God has richly blessed this island too.

All thanks to our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ for Puerto Rico. Thanks to the Holy Spirit for guiding Maggie and helping show us a healthy way to relieve stress.

Want to relieve your stress? You may not be near this beautiful island, but I am sure God has put some quiet, serene beauty somewhere near you. Take the time and relax and call on Him.

Always remember:

Stress Kills!

Here are some pictures of our stress breaking day at Piñones.

I think I am the first and biggest stress in your life...no wonder this storm is like my name. This is a very good Hub...though you know my scream when I saw a picture you post...but...ok...you are a good writer. I need to add this Bible verse because is just what we did...it is not about what you feel it is what you do with it:Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Beautiful pictures, froggy!

If only 'we' or I, could live in the vineyards, or by the sea and fish, and soak in nature on a daily basis.

Those stress quotes are wonderful. We all experience some kind of stress. Thank you for pointing us to our Heavenly Father who is able to help us to deal with stress in our lives. I vote this hub as beautiful.

same comment as Maria Ruiz - that verse was going through my mind (easy to read, difficult to practise). I realise I am catching up on stumbles during the Christmas holidays (!!) so I hope this finds you well, froggy?
