D.G.L. is a licorice extract that can be taken in different forms. I used the chew-ables and had great results! It not only reduces the acid output, but stimulates the healing process as well. If it did not work for me, I would never recommend it to you.You can find this at Natur-Tyme or any large health food store. I just happen to prefer Natur-Tyme, if you have one locally. I go to the one in Dewitt N.Y.
Also, you can chop up some licorice root and chew on it like gum. That worked for me as well.

Prevention - I always recommend filtered water, and lots of it. Make sure you chew your food thoroughly and a little slower. If you don't, you are asking you body to make more acid. I am also a big fan of green and chamomile teas. Drink one or both of these daily, hot or cold. Last, take a B vitamin complex, and up your antioxidant rich foods like cherries and strawberries.
Most medications for Acid Reflux work, but have side effects that I did not want to live with!
