How I Managed To Lose Weight
The Plan
I decided to start on my plan right away instead of waiting to begin with it the following day.
My plan was to control my diet, not snack at all in between meals and to stop drinking aerated drinks. Apart from that, I decided that I would walk briskly every where I went and begin the day with some simple yoga exercises. I consulted my physician and he agreed that the plan was a good one.
Day One
This is the day I decided to lose weight. I controlled my urge to snack all through the day. Other than that, I ate my normal meals.
Day Two
I woke up feeling enthusiastic. I started with some breathing exercises called 'pranayam' for about five minutes. After that I had a good breakfast consisting of two 'rotis' with jam, an egg and a cup of tea. I went to work and walked about much faster than I normally did. Lunch consisted of about two cups of rice, 'dal' and a vegetable. It ended with a fruit. I had a light nap in the evening, after which, I went for a short brisk walk outdoors. When I came home, I had a cup of tea. Dinner consisted of two 'rotis' and some chicken and vegetable. It ended with half a cup of desert; pudding, fruit salad, etc.
Day Three
I followed the programme I had made for Day Two, with slight variations in the diet. If I felt hungry during the day, I munched on a raw carrot or a cucumber, or a fruit.
The Next Three Months
Yes, it took three whole months for people to notice that I had lost a lot of weight. By then I had lost about ten kilos. I felt good, had more energy, and was so happy with my determination and success that came from it. I could have lost weight faster with a stricter diet, I know. But I don't like following strict diet plans. I ate well, as you must have noticed. I only made a few changes to achieve the results I wanted. Besides, I wasn't in any hurry to lose that weight. Also, I hate to exercise so there was no strict exercise regime. I only walked about briskly and went for a short walk every day.
A lot of people used to advice me about how to lose weight. I had often tried the crash diets they prescribed because it worked for them. Somehow, it never worked for me. I tried going for long walks with friends who also wanted to lose weight. That, too, never worked. I tried playing a game of badminton every evening. That, too, never helped. Finally, I came up with my own fantastic plan and it worked wonders. What I'm trying to say is that what works for you may not work for someone else and vice-versa. You need to plan your own regime and make it a mixture of diet and exercise. But before beginning, please consult your doctor and discuss the plan with him.
