Are You Addicted on Nicotine?

Are you addicted to smoking and nicotine?

Understand if you are addicted to smoking and nicotine

  1. How many cigarettes do you smoke a day?

  2. How long have you smoked?

  3. When do you have your first cigarette of the day?

  4. Do you smoke if you are ill (sick enough to be in bed)?

  5. Do you find it difficult not to smoke in places where it is forbidden e.g. movie theater, library, on public transportation?

  6. Do you find it difficult to concentrate without smoking?

Check Your Scores

17-24 - You have a high nicotine dependency. We strongly recommend that you consider using a nicotine replacement therapy in combination with changes in behavior to help you quit tobacco.

10-17 - You have a medium nicotine dependency. There are likely to be times when you crave it. Try to make a plan to help you deal with these cravings before they happen. See below for more information.

Under 10 - You have a low nicotine dependency. This may be a social habit that you are trying to kick. You may still find it difficult to quit, as your smoking may be associated with other external factors such as alcohol. Look at the times you smoke and think about how you will cope in these situations without cigarettes.
