B Vitamin Deficiencies
Deficiencies in the B vitamins can be tricky as serious problems may not be obvious until the deficiency has been going on for years. Medical tests might not detect some problems like lack of sufficient B12 may not show up as a symptom in the blood for a prolonged time. One of these problems is memory loss because of insufficient B12. If the problem hits the chronic stage more serious dysfunctions occur like dysfunction of the adrenal glands. The adrenals compensate for lack of energy being produced by B12 as there is a B12 shortage and the adrenals release more adrenaline; over a period of time the adrenal gland becomes exhausted.
Vitamin B1 deficiency can lead to these health problems: leg cramps, heart swelling, and edema. A deficiency of vitamin B2 can cause light sensitivity and tongue inflammation. Insomnia, dermatitis, and weakness are caused by lack of B3. Insufficient B5 can contribute to abdominal pain, acne, fatigue, and allergies. Lacking enough B6 dizziness, kidney stones, high blood pressure, and convulsions. Deficiency in B7 occurs in infants and causes neurological disorders and retard growth. Deficiency in folic acid or B9 causes homocysteine levels to rise. When someones body can't absorb enough B12 pernicious anemia occurs.
The best way to avoid vitamin B deficiencies to to eat foods choke full of these nutrients and eating them raw is even better. Avoiding processed foods that don't have the necessary nutrition will decrease the risk of deficiency and the attendant health issues that are caused by it.
