Boomers are Ageing Fast!

Source

Old and Feeble....I THINK NOT !!!!!!!

Baby Boomers are now reaching age 60 at a rate of one every 7 seconds, What will we do with our golden years?

Boomers are healthier and wealthier than their parents.

Boomers are expected to live longer than past generations.

Most boomers will age with a good share of independence well into their advanced years.

Boomers Beware, 10 things you should know about ageing

  1. You are likely to need some help as you get older

  2. Most of us are under prepared and will have trouble paying for this care

  3. The supportive services we will need are really expensive

  4. Medicare does not pay of these services long-term

  5. Most government services help lower income elders, typically those at poverty level

  6. You are likely unaware of how to access supportive services you may need as you get older

  7. Private insurance at this time is not so helpful

  8. As baby boomers grow older the need for supportive services will grow as well

  9. Escalating health care costs threaten the entire system

  10. One major initiative of Health Care Reform is to keep elders living in their homes for as long as possible

Great hub. I am quickly heading in that direction. I think about retirement quite a bit especially since I can retire in ten months. I don't plan on retiring though for at least five years. Voted up!

Thanks so much T4an, I'm not sure I would want to retire either. I currently only work part-time but feel I still more to do.

My parents are boomers and they don't seem like it but I know soon enough I will have to think about the future and arrangements. But I agree that remaining active and engaged goes a very long way. Great hub!
