Back To School Safety Tip

Back to School:Safety is First

Many individuals will arise early to Walmart, K-mart, Target, Dollar Store, and other department stores for school supplies. Others will go early to find school uniforms and clothing at JcPenney, Sears, and other department stores. All of this is in preparation for our children going back to school. Last Weekend, Tennessee participated in a special incentive called Tax Free Incentive, for school supplies, clothing, etc. for parents to help purchase supplies for their kids. This is a wonderful initiative to help parents, the cost to raise kids and the ongoing expenses for school can be costly, so every bit of savings that parents can get is a Blessing.

Unfortunately, we will do everything we can to prepare for school with supplies and uniforms; however, have you spoke to your children about safety? In particular, those of you who have teen's that love to drive or who will be driving soon. Please tell your child one of the most important things they need to know this season, DON'T TEXT WHILE DRIVING!

A few weeks ago, I had to give news to a young woman that her love one had died. At that time, I didn't know the particulars and later, I found out she died because she was texting. My heart dropped, because her death could have been prevented. Oprah Winfrey has a special No Phone Zone Pledge that she has started to help individuals making the pledge not to text while driving. I would encourage you to tell your teenager and yourself to make this pledge as well.

Please don't get so consumed with buying school supplies and clothes that you forget to tell your children, Safety must come first. Our children lives is more important than paper, pencils, pens, and computers, but most important, it's more important than a text. DON'T TEXT WHILE DRIVING!
