Defining Healthy Living
Are you among those who have begun talking about how to be healthy, what to eat to stay healthy and what style to adapt to get a better way of life?
Healthy living is all about getting a better sense of physical, mental and spiritual well-being with a wholesome, optimistic, active and healthy lifestyle. Sounds so hard to get into, but If you view it as the should-be way of life and challenge yourself, you will realize how simple these things are to make it a healthy habit.
Healthy Living is Healthy Eating
Healthy eating requires consuming different food groups in the right quantities. It means a balance of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, protein, dairy, fat & sugar to supply enough of everything a human body needs for good health. It's all about getting a nutritional lifestyle and it's what it means when we say, balanced diet.
Eat whole grains such as brown rice and pasta, whole wheat breads whenever possible and darker colored fruits and vegetables.
Another example is snacking on fruit and nuts instead of sugary treats; this provides the fiber, protein and healthy fats enough to sustain you to your next meal. It can even promote weight loss by helping to reduce cravings and letting enough time for the body to burn calories in between meals.
It Is Having Good Rest and Sleep
Sleep is important to healthy living. It is when you sleep that the body heals and replenishes itself. Even if a straight 6-8 hours of nightly sleep seems impossible, cat naps can be very helpful. The body rebels with illness when it is forced to work long periods without enough rest. If you want to raise your productivity, get enough sleep.
It Includes a Good Regular Exercise
Exercise is a must to healthy living; it helps your heart pump to healthiness. If you're not into this habit, a 20-minute brisk walk is a good activity to begin with, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or play with your kids.
Exercising means increasing your physical activity regularly. Exercise not only keeps the body at a healthy weight by burning calories, it also allows the mind to release stress. You can make your own simple exercises at home as your simplest calorie-burning activities everyday.
... Plenty of Water
Your body needs adequate fluids to help itself digest and process the food you are eating. Drinking plenty of water energizes the body and helps it release toxins for optimum health. It can slowly reduce the amount of soda you drink in one day. So if you haven't already given up your soft drink or other unhealthy drink a day habit, start replacing it with lots of water. Aim for eight cups of pure water each day.
Breathing fuels the brain and muscles. Most of us breathe in a rapid and shallow manner which prevents us from getting fresh oxygen in. It is suggested to breathe out through your mouth as far as you can then exhale every last bit of carbon dioxide. Did you know that giving special time to breathe each day allows you quiet time for yourself which promotes a healthy mind and spirit?
Healthy Living Protects Yourself from Stress
One causes of stress is trying to perfect everything you do rather than accepting things as good enough. Excessive demands of your time caring for children, aging parents, household chores, office projects and budgeting are the most unavoidable situations of stress, but taking time to plan ahead can minimize pressures and helps you put all tasks in order. Slowing down is a big step to healthy living.
Good breathing takes part here by relieving stress; and by fostering mutually supportive relationships with friends, family, and office colleagues, you'll be able to get things by accordingly.
It Gives Time to Prayer
If you think you're too busy to give time for prayer, pray as you go about your activities. This helps you get your mind off worrying and can help you feel more calm and grounded. Spirituality acts as a buffer against stress and slows you down with peace of heart and mind.
A family altar will keep you reminded to pray. Saying grace before meals is already a perfect opportunity to involve the whole household to a regular time of prayer. Even a regular short time for meditation is far better than no time at all. If you do this, you'll get a healthy and God-filled lifestyle.
