Become Purposeful and Lose Weight

Get Serious About Weight Loss.

How many times have you told others that you are going to lose weight? Do you even believe yourself anymore? You don't want to lose credibility with yourself and others. If you say you are going to do something then you need to have the follow through to really do it. Are you really serious about losing weight? If you are, then congratulations! You have definiteness of purpose. Purposeful intent and action is the foundation of success.

Set a Weight Loss Goal.

The first thing to do is to set a reasonable weight loss goal. Don't make it something that is so hard to achieve that it would have to be a near miracle to come to pass. Set the goal in conjunction with your doctor. There are body weight charts to help with this.

Really Know Your Weight Loss Motive.

What is your "why?" It is nearly impossible to do something if you don't know why you are doing it. Of course, this seems obvious. But if your only reason for losing weight is that you "should" or to please other people, then it will be hard to succeed. You really need to be wanting to do this for yourself. Yes, it is natural to want to look attractive or even sexy but that cannot be enough. What is the real reason that motivates you?

Be Happy Now.

Some people are simply miserable because they cannot lose weight. This is a terrible way to live your life. You need to restore your happiness and purpose in life by doing things that are meaningful for you and truly liking yourself. Your happiness should be non-negotiable. It should not be a matter of feeling that you must lose weight in order to be happy. No, rather choose to be happy right now- today. This happy attitude will actually facilitate your weight loss efforts.

Give Yourself External Rewards.

Motivation is hard to come by for some people. If you are one of these people you will have to produce rewards to get yourself going. This is not hard to do. Just come up with a list of things you really like. These should not be food items. Give yourself these items when you get to certain milestones.

If you want to lose weight you must focus upon it purposefully. Get reasonable and set a weight loss target. Know the reason that you want to be slender and healthy and keep yourself motivated.
