Being a Health YOU: Your Brain
A few months ago I would have never thought about sitting here on a hot 98 degree night writing a hub on how people should live a healthier life. I was and still am a bit down, but I am a fighter and I want to help others find the will in them. Sometimes in life we can all lose the will to live. We find ourselves searching for meaning in a life where we have so many issues. Here in Minnesota our government has been shut down. Many people have become depressed because we have lost many of our benefits. With the economy, poverty, and debt in can be hard to move on. However you are not alone in your quest for happiness and a stable mind.
Your Mind
Mental health is a very important thing. These days doctors are very quick to put anyone and everyone on some sort of medication. Medication for a "mental illness" should always be your LAST step. Trust me. I am currently on Seratraline and it is no picnic. The worst thing is when I don't take my medication for a while and I have these delightful things called Brain Zaps, very pleasant (please note my exetreme sarcasm)
Before turning to medication try the other M, Meditation. Meditation dates way back to 500 B.C, Budha spread his teaching of this peaceful mind set far and wide. I have tried it a few times and I actually like it and would love to make more time for it. It's all about practicing your breathing. Taking Deep breaths and making sure you are FOCUSED on those deep breaths. You can find music that will help you meditate on YouTube. My favorite kinds to listen to is anything with a chakra balance and 528Hz frequency. My favorite so far is Love Signals which is provided in a link below. Makes me sleep like a baby as well.
Bibliotherapy is also good for the mind. All bibliotherapy is is reading. Just pick up a book and read. It teaches you focus and helps put your mind at ease. I like to read self help books. I recommend The Secret and The Power by Rhonda Byrne. The two books are very enlightening and will help you on your journey for peace in your life. My two favorite books which are highly recommended are Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and Sacred Contract by Caroline Myss. Two very amazing books that I think everyone should read once in their lives. If you fellow hubbers have any other books you would recommend please feel free to throw them in a comment. It might help some of my readers.
You are what you eat As well.
Maintain a healthy diet. Keep some Omega 3's and Barley for a health brain. Please try to avoid over eating fats. These foods make you sluggish and unable to motivate yourself to get things done. A happy mind is not only a mind that meditates but it is also a mind that moves and is able to think freely and creatively.
Last but surely not least. Treat others with kindness and respect. This is actually great karma for your mind set and will help you out with many different situations.
