How to Lose Weight and Keep It Off

For years I have looked for the Best Way To Lose Weight and Keep It Off, always wanting the quick fix, my weight has gone up and down over and over again. And D I E - T doesn't sound to inviting; stops me dead in my tracks.
One day I was listening to Oprah and she said something like this, don't you think with all my money, if there was a miracle cure out there, I would have it? She said I have news for you it takes good old fashioned eating right, exercise, and a change of lifestyle. I realized that for my weight to change I had to change my habits. I had to start caring about me. I now call it "My Healthy Eating Tips - Weight Loss Plan".
Where do I begin? Make the Decision - I want to lose 20 pounds, I want to be Healthy, I want to feel and look good, NOW don't do it for silly reasons, for your spouse, for a class reunion, do it because YOU are worth feeling and looking great.
If you have read any self-improvement books they all talk about affirmations. The words I AM are so empowering, every morning - noon - and night I say to myself I AM ____ (fill in your healthy weight) pounds now and loving it. Repeat at least 3 times. You have got to train your mind to reprogram what you have taught it, until it finally agrees.
Accept full responsibility for everything you put into your mouth, which is the cause of your current weight. Get on the scale, say I AM responsible for this weight and I AM going to change it. Weigh once a week, record the number but visualize your healthy weight on that scale, saying I AM ____ pounds now and loving it. Repeat. Make it a sensible weight, if you have a lot of weight to lose, don't focus on the whole amount, just 20 pounds at a time.
A buddy system works wonders, Find a friend that has also made the decision, help each other stay on course, make a game out of it, check in with each other for a few minutes each day. Become a student of healthy eating for weight loss.
Begin a Journal, write down your starting date, weight, and measurements, many times you will see inches gone before numbers. Focus on how you feel being in control of your Healthy Life. Write down specific goals, I will lose 60 pounds by (exact reasonable date), then break it down, I will lose 10 pounds by specific date. Write down and memorize your affirmations and repeat to yourself as often as possible during the day.
Eat breakfast like a KING, lunch like a Princess, and Dinner like a man that's broke. Before you sit down to a meal or snack drink 1-2 cups of water, (you will eat less), after you eat wait 15-20 minutes and then enjoy a brisk 20-30 minute walk - once or twice daily. Swing your arms, smile, enjoy, breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the beautiful outdoors, if on your treadmill listen to self improvement cd's. The best exercise machine is YOU.
New Habits take over 30 days to form. Don't become obsessed - with obsession comes burn-out, make this year your "do it yourself - improvement year."
One Last thing, She who Laughs - Lasts, begin by becoming healthy yourself, and then passing it on. "All dreams are small compared to the desire for good health".
