Bring It: P90X Day 20

P90X is an extreme workout and sometimes I am known for taking things to the extreme. That being said, I have decided I am going to do the entire 90 day program. I am going to the extreme to test if this program actually works. This series is my personal journey.

Bring It

Today is Saturday and that always throws me off. I don't get up by the sound of an alarm. I get up because I am fully rested or because my kids start charging into my room. That means I am not following a rigid schedule like I normally do during the weekdays. However, one day a week I can stray a little from the strict schedule. Today was that day.

It was a busy day and unless I woke up really early, I wouldn't have really had time to get my workout in anyway. We needed to be in Palm Springs this morning by 10, which was a solid hour drive from our house. That means not only do we have to get up and get ready, we have three kids to get out the door as well. Anybody who has kids, knows that is a challenge. We ended up running late.

By the time we got home, we had a few things to unload before my husband headed off to work. By the time I looked at the clock, it was already 5 p.m. and I hadn't done my workout yet. I was starting to feel the pressure.... Would today be the day I lost my streak?

The answer to that is no! I made myself the priority. I told everybody to get out of my hair, I was working out. And that is exactly what I did.

Even though I did more of an evening type workout, I was still motivated for it. Today was KenpoX and that is one of my favorites for the entire week. To make it even more memorable, it is also the last one before recovery week. That means I pushed myself as hard as I could. I threw my punches, I did my kicks, and I am pretty sure if my livingroom was a dark alley, I would be able to defend myself.

Not only did I Bring It today, but I was able to find the time to do so when life gets hectic!

When you have 3 kids, it is important to take time for yourself.

You got to make the time!!!

So many times have I heard people use the excuse, "I just don't have time to workout!" I have even used that excuse many times in the past. Possibly about 21 days ago I used the same excuse. But now, I am done with the excuses.

My life is hectic. I have a husband and I have three kids. I have a house that I need to take care of. And frankly, life happens. But I have made it my goal, if only for 90 days, to take a little time out for myself. It is needed; it is therapeutic. And frankly, I deserve it!

As a mom, there have been so many times that I have given everything I have to everybody else. I know there are other mom's out there who do the same thing. When they give everything, they have nothing left for themselves.

Now is the time to start thinking differently. I am not saying the other people in your life aren't important, but you are important too! When you take the time out for yourself, you will end up feeling better. When you exercise, you will end up having more energy. It is really a win-win for everybody around.

If you take the time to exercise, you are giving something very beneficial to yourself. You are giving yourself happy endorphins, you are giving yourself strength, and you are also giving yoruself time to think. You will end up feeling great.

After all that, can you really afford not to make the time for yourself?

GO gal GO! I am following your adventure. Your words are wise in this hub. I heed them, though it is not of exercise. However, exercise is hidden in the recesses of my mind too. Thanks for sharing encouragement with your adventure. A bunch of people in history have said you have to give in order to receive. Here and other places it is called karma. I was just wondering of my karma score when I read this hub. Have a great day!

@tsmog - very well said. You eventually have to refill your ability to give. While this adventure is based off exercise, it really is about life in general and living. I hope everybody gets a little encouragement from it. If anything, writing these have kept me stronger both mentally and physcially!

Another great day for you!!! I am so happy you made the time for yourself. You are 100% right that you deserve it! You deserve to feel good and to have that time to yourself. Plus after a long day sometimes those workouts feel really good. After all you let go of all and any stress and the endorphins take over :-) Now that I started school up this is the one thing I really need to somehow work out... I have to keep my workouts in my schedule!!! We will see how everything goes I guess. Keep up the good work :-)

Awesome! Yep - too often we are so worried about everyone else we don't take care of our own selves. And if you don't care care of you - it gets harder and harder to take care of the others.

Three kids is tough! Even though one of mine is older - you think that they can take care of themselves and you can relax? No....the dynamics just change and they need different kinds of care. Like my girl, she mostly needs me to listen - she has just moved out but she is still young! Life as a young adult - you forget how hard it is to make those big changes where you now pay your own bills, etc.,

I only have to get two dressed and out the door now and I'm always late. My parents are constantly annoyed because I'll run 15 minutes late for dinner when we go to their house. I get so crabby all the way there bc I know I'm going to hear that cutting remark about being late....i try to tell my mom it's nerve wracking because no matter how I try to be on time something will happen. Once one of the kids was at a neighbors and I wasn't sure which one - took a second to locate the lost one....traffic - doesn't matter. Ill be late! And give me a break! Its my moms house and not like an appointment right? Sheesh!

Excellent hub....I do need to exercise and not make excuses! Just no bending! Lll

@Myth - I ain't gonna lie - when it was rounding out at 5 p.m. I was wondering if I was really going to get the workout in. I finally said - I am just going to do it now. I can't fall out now - not with this many days in already. I would set yourself up a schedule and stick to it. If that means setting your alarm in the morning to get up and get your workout in, so be it. Treat it like a doctor's appointment - you wouldn't miss out on those because you are too busy surfing the internet or reading a book. Today it is about priorities and making time for your workout - even if it is only 30 minutes means you are making yourself a priority! :)

@Real - you are exercising right now... See those mind muscles flexing! Yep - that is good tough work sometime! I love flexing the mind muscles.

I hear what you mean on how the older they get and the more they change the more the dynamics of the situation changes. Abby is now more needy with wanting to talk and have "adult" time... where as Bella is always in trouble and Max - well you spend a lot of time chasing him around the house! They definately all keep me on my toes. It is hard to tune them out at times. But when it comes to my workout I don't have much of a choice. That is why it works so great to do it before anybody in the house is awake!

Yeah I noticed in the photo Abby and Bella are having to hold him still - you can tell he's already ready to take off running!

@Real - if I am thinking correctly, there was a pumpkin needing to be played with by Max. Oddly, I was looking for a good picture of me and the three kids but none exist. Just goes to show - I am always behind the camera!

Great decision on P90X. I completed the program last year. Combined with a healthy diet I was amazed at the results - I got totally ripped and increased my strength, cardio and energy level. Wish you much success!

@TotalHealth - I am very happy with my decision. So much so that I actually became a BeachBody coach. I really love the programs that they offer. I am now currently on my second round of P90X. The transformation has been amazing. My next journey will be Turbo Fire! I can't wait!
