A Frightening Statistic! HIV and Gay/Bisexual Men!

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has just released a frightening study. One in five gay and/or bisexual men in cities across this country are infected with HIV. The most shocking part of the study is that they don't know it!

This has strong implications for the heterosexual community since a woman may be dating a bisexual man, for example, who has not divulged his sexual inclinations.

The problem is worse among young, black men.

The CDC conducted the study, following 8,000+ men who had sex with men in 21 U.S. cities.

The Study's Findings: Gay/Bisexual Men and HIV!

The CDC studied about 8,000 men who had sex with men in 21 U.S. cities. The results? 19% of gay men were infected with HIV, overall.

However there was a disparity when it came to ethnicity. 28% of gay black men were infected with HIV, compared with 18% of Hispanics and 16% of white men.

Black men were the least aware of their infection, followed by Hispanics and white men.

CDC Recommendations...

The CDC recommends that if you are a gay or bisexual man who has had multiple sex partners, or use drugs during sex, that you be tested for HIV every three to six months. If not, a yearly test should suffice.

CAUTION: If you are a woman dating a man and do not know his sexual history, ALWAYS make sure he wears a condom, NO EXCEPTIONS! If the relationship turns serious, I would advise that you ask that he's tested for HIV. This is life and death!
