OCD and Obsessive Thoughts: How to Clear Up Your Mind Forever

OCD and Obsessive Thoughts

Obsessive Thoughts are a type of OCD, an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: something you don't like but you really can't stop doing. Has it ever happened to you that you mind is cluttered, full of rubbish? Those useless and almost always Negative Thoughts which make you like crazy with their constant blathering going on and on and on? And the more you try to push them away the more they keep coming back? Wouldn't you like to be able to have more Positive Thoughts instead? Because if your mind is full and cluttered then it's pretty difficult to have free space for Positive Thoughts to come, right? Well, you can deal with an ocd and al least make it less heavy.

Clean Your Mind!

OCD and Depression

Especially when things go wrong it's quite common to have many obsessive thoughts: about us, our family, about almost everything. This is quite normal, the problem is that if they go on for a long time they don't leave enough space for positive thoughts to come up and suddenly you enter a state of so called Depression and having positive thoughts about anything becomes pretty har-.

Now, I'm not going to discuss the medical side of Depression, but there are a couple of tools which can be pretty useful to clear up our mind before it gets suffocated by this ocd. Or to stop all that noise before we become deaf to everything else.

This way there is even a good chance that a state of Depression gets stopped before it's too late. Ok, I'll be honest, I think these tools can be pretty useful even if you already feel depressed or if your suffer from an obsessive compulsive disorder.

Very important: You are not depressed, you now are feeling a state of depression. It seems the same thing but it's not. A feeling can be changed.

If you suffer from Depression or any other OCD you MUST see your doctor before doing something else.

Angles of Obsessive Thoughts

Mind blathering, blabbering and obsessive thoughts as well as an OCD can be faced from different angles: here we take into account two of them.

  • A change in perspective

  • A clearing up technique

Perspective

We can't control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to what happens to us. This is 100% true, obviously there are different degrees in what happens to us: a loss in our family can't be compared with losing a job or a divorce. Some things can be healed only by time, but many others can be dealt with quite effectively by simply changing our point of view on them. Something similar to what happens in the movie Dead Poets Society. Do you remember? Just looking at things from a different point of view they are not any more the same. They could even become better. And more positive thoughts could come back.

There is a great hub detailing what I've found to be the best technique to change perspective in a split second and see things differently, it's written by my friend emohealer and you can find the link down the page. It's the Eye Patch Technique. It's great to see things differently which is the first step to deal with an OCD, not only for obsessive thoughts.

The Hand Clap Technique for OCD and obsessive thoughts

This technique is simply wonderful, and extremely effective. I am pretty sure that coupled with the Eye Patch it's possible to get rid of obsessive thoughts forever and reduce an obsessive compulsive disorder to an acceptable level. These techniques are like Yin and Yang. The reason for its effectiveness is that it involves many aspects of ourselves thus shortening the time to be effective: will power, sight, touch, hearing, muscles.... Feel free to test it with another OCD, it might help.

Remember to do it with intent, but don't hurt yourself. As usual we start directly from the Suggestion. Read my hubs on How to Hypnotize Yourself and Write your own Suggestions before.

Desired outcome: clear up obsessive thoughts to leave space for positive thoughts.

Scond outcome: release tension to reduce the grasp of any obsessive compulsive disorder.

Say to yourself:

Dear subconscious, I KNOW that sometimes I have my head full of thoughts; and that's natural. Now what I'd like to do is to establish a new permanent directive that any time I feel that these thoughts are simply too much and don't let enough space for good, positive thoughts to come to light I CAN instantly clear up my mind and have it free and limber again. I'm sure you agree that this will surely improve our life for the better.

NOW, I KNOW THAT ANY TIME I FEEL MY MIND CLUTTERED BY SIMPLY CLAPPING MY HANDS TOGETHER I CAN INSTANTLY CLEAR IT UP AND LEAVE SPACE FOR POSITIVE THOUGHTS.

I WANT THAT ANY TIME I FEEL MY MIND CLUTTERED BY SIMPLY CLAPPING MY HANDS TOGETHER I INSTANTLY CLEAR IT UP AND LEAVE SPACE FOR POSITIVE THOUGHTS.

Repeat the above two sentences three times.

FROM NOW ON ANY TIME I FEEL MY MIND CLUTTERED BY SIMPLY CLAPPING MY HANDS TOGETHER I INSTANTLY CLEAR IT UP AND LEAVE SPACE FOR POSITIVE THOUGHTS.

Repeat three times.

IMAGINE THE ACHIEVED OUTCOME AND FEEL HOW YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTER.

DAILY REPETITION: USE THE I CAN SENTENCE: ANY TIME I FEEL MY MIND CLUTTERED BY SIMPLY CLAPPING MY HANDS I CAN INSTANTLY CLEAR IT UP AND LEAVE SPACE FOR POSITIVE THOUGHTS.

Technique: stand up, keep your arms straight but slightly bent, and CLAP in front of you, like sending cleaning vibrations all around. CLAP UNTIL YOU FEEL YOUR MIND IS CLEAR AGAIN, BUT DON'T HURT YOURSELF.

This technique can be used to clean a lot of things, just adapt it to the particular use. You can think of it as a kind of sonic wave able to disintegrate anything you like: bad old memories, negative thoughts, suffering feelings, OCD, obsessive thoughts..... You could use it even to send healing vibration through your body, what you believe to be true becomes true.

Remember to do it with power, like a Sumo fighter, imagine the power and soon you'll feel the power.

From Here

To Here

Conclusion

These two techniques, the Eya Patch and the Hand Clap, in my opinion are simply wonderful, not only they can be used for a lot of things, they are always handy and ready to be used. They'll make wonders. And don't be surprised if after a while using the Hand Clap Technique you start to feel more powerful, like having more control over your own life and the way you react to what happens to you. It's one of the side benefits of it.

One wonderful thing about both the Hand Clap and the Eye Patch is that after a while just imagining to do them will be as effective as actually performing them. Isn't this simply marvellous?

So, now you have a couple of useful tools for OCD and specifically clearing your mind from Obsessive Thoughts to leave space for Positive Thoughts, I hope you'll find them useful. If you suffer from another obsessive compulsive disorder feel free to try them but always check with your doctor first.

And now tell me what you think and feel free to share it with your friends. Thanks!

Wow...Hypnodude, you have really taken this to a new level! So glad you reminded that depression is not a dis-order, but only a state of being which is a perspective, which can be altered into a different state of being. I am going to be trying these two techniques in combination and excited as you saw the possiblities of the combination. to work with a depressive state of being always patch left eye, to work with angery stae of being is the right eye.

This is powerful stuff you are sharing and I will be passing it forward, there are so many to benefit as they are ready! Love and Light as you shine so brightly and lead the way out of what appears to be dark corridors in our minds eye1 Sue

Hi Al, thanks for your kind words, don't worry, your appreciation is enough. :) And thanks for the two claps up. :)

Grazie mille!

Sue, our two techniques work pretty well together, they really make perfect companions. Who hasn't walked the dark corridor once or more? While the Eye Patch helps seeing things differently the Hand Clap gives people back the power to have an influence on their feelings. Or one helps to find the missing diamond in the dirt while the other cleans it up. so maybe more diamonds appear. I'm pretty happy you appreciate it. :)

Hypnodude: Wow, I am learning a lot with you; I can see myself clapping and feeling revitalized! I have been working with the anchoring technique as I mentioned (several times by now, hehe), so my question is, is it okay to work with various techniques at the same time? I don't suffer from depression, thank God, but was wondering if its okay to work on different goals/issues at the same time, or wait until I get results with at least one issue?

Don't remember Sue writing about the eye patch technique, going to check it out. ----------------->

Thumbs up!

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

VioletSun, thanks for appreciating my hubs and trying my advices. I really appreciate this. It would be better, and strongly advised, to work on one issue at a time, this because you can focus your efforts/energies and achieve results sooner.

Having said that if you focus one week on the Quick Stress Release and another one on the Hand Clap so that they become an established (permanent) directive than you can use them as you wish, even one after the other. And of course you can even add the Eye Patch (thanks emohealer) so you can relax, clean your mind and change point of view, all in five minutes. Isn't it great? :)

And obviously if you like any other clarification feel free to ask, I'm here. :)

This is too cool. You not only gives the statements and affirmations, you offer a physical action to cue a mental shift. I'll have to bookmark this one. It's so easy to know what one has to do, but manage to avoid doing it. Nice to have another string to the bow.

Thanks RedElf, I'm happy you've found it good and useful. Those techniques are always at hand, so there are not many excuses to avoid using them. :)

Great hub! I agree, how we react to things makes a world of a difference. The clap technique, I must try it when my mind becomes cluttered. I also like the comparison in the pictures, "from here to here" Thank you hypondude!

Thank you Madison, remember to keep me informed. :) It's not always easy to react "well", but knowing it at least we have a chance. Have a great day!

Nicks 6 years ago

Overload - I guess - is another word for too much clutter and I doubt that any of us have not experienced it recently. My answer, such as it is, is to go rock climbing. I find being in the countryside and having to concentrate mentally and physically on a demanding sport clarifies my mind and body the way nothing else seems to. Does anyone else find that something similar works for them?

Janet 6 years ago

I've heard of a similar technique only instead of clapping your hands you press/squeeze your thumbs - less obtrusive in a pulic place!

Hi Nicks, surely you are right, even just a walk in nature can make wonders for our mood, but sometimes it's not available or fast enough, as an example if you are at home in the evening and you feel overloaded so a quick cleaning solution is needed. Thanks for commenting.

hypnodude profile image

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

Hi Janet, thanks for your comment, I use a similar technique on my hub on Trichotillomania or hair pulling. The Hand Clap instead is a more powerful technique and gives more the idea of fast cleaning, just like it's different using a broom or a vacuum cleaner. If you try it you'll feel the difference. :)

Thanks for this Hypnodude. I will do the Hand Clapping as Negative thoughts do creep in now and then. I usually, head towards the Kitchen for Chocolate or a big slice of cake when I'm not happy but now - I shall simply Clap my hands.

That sentence in the beginning is so true and so powerful. "We can't control what happens to us, but we can control how we react to what happens to us." We should dictate to our minds, not the other way round.

Best Wishes. :)

hypnodude profile image

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

Thank you very much Lady_E, glad you like the hub and the inner truth of that sentence. The Hand Clap is a great tool which becomes more powerful each time is used, but I have to admit that a piece of good chocolate is hard to beat. They can be used together if you like. :)

Very useful information. I suffer from depression and take medicine for it, but I will incorporate some of these techniques also.

I appreciate the sharing of this technique. (Loved that first photo!)

I have a friend with a theory that as life expression approaches a new paradigm many old illusions are popping up as they get cleared. This is sometimes felt as personal thought, when in fact, it is species consciousness.

Your technique will be most helpful in clearing the old.

Kudos! I am always for self-help techniques; especially mental cleansing. The photos were really good visuals to put your story together. I am new to hubpages. I need to devote a lot of my time to create good reads such as this.

hypnodude profile image

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

Hi Tony, thanks for commenting. Remember that depression is a passing state, and that happy thoughts (as in Peter Pan) do come back. The Hand Clap and the Eye Patch can be pretty useful, and they can also get the power back in your hands. My best wishes to your success.

hypnodude profile image

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

Hi Menopausal Mick, thanks for your appreciation. Yes the Hand Clap technique is pretty good also for old rubbish, only that usually a little more time is needed to clean well our mind. The Eye Patch instead helps to see more "clearly". As to avoid rubbish in the future. :)

hypnodude 6 years ago from Italy Author

Hi Persia, don't worry, it's full of good hubbers who have written many hubs with many advices about how to write good hubs, well, I'm still learning from them. :)

I came to his hub while reading about the panic attacks. This is really good. I have actually tried the 'hand-clap' technique. Learned it some years ago. It really is one that gets results! It really does send healing vibrations your way and is as a catalyst that changes the negative directions that tried to surround you. Great hub!
