Creating Your Utopia
Believing Is Seeing
Want to possess health, wealth, love, joy, peace and harmony in your life? Think it’s impossible? There is no doubt in these times of myriad financial and social difficulties; it is easy for just about anyone to get discouraged. I just want to share a little bit about my journey in my quest for all of the above so that you, too, can enjoy life to the fullest. I am a huge fan of positive thinking, self-help books and articles. If it lifts my spirits and gives me hope, I will write lists, repeat mantras, visualize my desires, and do just about anything else to make my wishes come true.
Don’t snicker, now. Have you ever tried it? I mean really allowed yourself the latitude to explore every possibility that positive thinking can bring? If not, you are truly missing out. Let’s pretend for a moment that I, and so many others like me, am full of beans, or some other organic compound, and there is nothing that can change the sorry state you are in. You would just as soon poke yourself in the eye than listen to another Little Mary Sunshine with her rose colored glasses searching for a four leaf clover and a leprechaun at the end of the rainbow telling you to just ‘look on the bright side’. Are you that person? Am I just ticking you off right now? If so, than you really need to listen up, Sparky, because you are your own worst enemy, and I am hell-bent on saving your sorry, pessimistic, relentlessly negative self.
As we all know, everyone has his or her own set of problems. Some of them are truly horrendous and I am not, in any way negating the fact that life can truly be horrific at times, but…what if? What if there is any truth to all of the propaganda out there touting that we are in charge of our own destiny? That anything and everything that we desire is there for the taking and all you need to do is just visualize it? What if you can change and improve upon your life in such a way that takes you from zero to hero with just a modicum of effort? Would you do it? Would you give it a try in the privacy of your own little space that feels safe to you? I sure hope so, because I’m here to tell you that I have tried it, and it works.
Am I so special? Well, yes, I’d like to think I am. I sometimes even get the thumbs up from my kids, I’m happy to report. The good news is that we are all special. We all have something unique to ourselves, something wonderful that we can offer, if not to the whole world, than at least to those in our little corner of it. So…are you game? If the answer is a resounding no, no way, no how; well then you are officially dismissed. Bye-bye and best of luck. If you are even the least bit intrigued and open to improving your state of mind, body, soul, attitude and, at the most basic level, your mood, then I will tell you what has worked for me.
First of all, I have read several books on the subject including The Secret, The Power, The Law of Attraction, The Power of the Subconscious Mind, etc., and they all have a common thread. Like attracts like; Visualize the way you wish your life, home, relationships and career were to be; Actually physically feel and believe that you already have what it is you yearn for, i.e., act as if, and it will manifest. Now you may be thinking that it cannot possibly be that simple. Well, it is and it isn’t. It is simple in that following the guidelines will truly earn you what you are trying to attain. Then what’s the part that isn’t? As humans, we all have a tendency to become a bit complacent once we have reached a goal. How else do you explain the weight loss/gain cycle that so many people go through? We work so hard to reach a set point, whether it is a number on the scale, a promotion, a salary increase, earning the love of that special person, etc., only to obtain it and then stop working on the respective goal, in most cases then losing it or at the very least not progressing any further.
We get comfortable and lose our edge of striving for the very thing we initially had to have. If you don’t use it, you lose it. That is very true of manifesting your heart’s desire and continuing to ‘earn’ it even after you have it. This very scenario rips simplicity out of the equation as you truly have to make an effort even after your desires have become realities. Otherwise, if you just get out of your own way, your life can be fabulous quicker than you could ever have imagined.
Okay, so I told you that the theories I have read about and cultivated from numerous books have actually worked for me, so I wanted to provide examples. My very first arduous task started like this: I hired a contractor to do some work in my yard. The long and short of it is I did not do my due diligence, and $30K later, I was left with a large dirt patch where a patio should have been, and a half built grill area, fireplace and bench. I had absolutely no recourse as he was neither a licensed contractor nor an LLC as stated on his letterhead and he had no assets to speak of. Well shame, shame, shame on me. For two years, that back yard looked like that. It wasn’t for lack of trying to get it corrected. I called several actual contractors, none of whom was willing to take on the task of correcting this horrendously half-baked project. So I lamented, kicking myself almost daily, and actually breaking down in tears on several occasions for having been so naïve and trusting instead of checking on this miscreant. I had so much negative energy on the subject that it became all consuming.
Enter The Secret. I read about visualizing things the way you want them and acting as if they were done, so I figured, what have I got to lose? So I marched my dejected self out to the vast wasteland that was my back yard and pictured it all done, solid surfaced and finished construction. I went so far as to jump up and down excitedly and be grateful for its completion. Guess what? Two weeks later (I swear to God) my yard was done. I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to accomplish this feat; I didn’t call anyone new or anything of the sort. A supplier of ours wanted to show us his rental home and told us about the guy that had done his backyard. Lo and behold, his guy came, saw, quoted, and finished in two weeks. Voila!
Pretty charged up with my success, I decided to repeat the mantra, ‘Money comes to me easily, frequently, abundantly and infinitely’ daily. Soon thereafter, in my mailbox I received a ‘dividend’ check from our auto and homeowners insurance provider. Never received one of these before in all the years we were with them, but there it was! Then a loan we had given many years prior that we had basically written off was paid back unexpectedly. It was raining pennies from heaven, and I loved every minute of it!
Now can you guess what happened shortly thereafter? Yep. Since things were going so well, I stopped concentrating on the particulars of exactly how I wanted my life to proceed and was operating on auto-pilot. It is never a good idea to function in this manner, as you are then at the mercy of whatever the Universe decides to send your way. It’s not the Universe’s fault, mind you. You didn’t specify, so you get out of it what you’ve put into it. I am here to tell you, the outcome I received working on auto-pilot? Not nearly as welcomed and wonderful as the outcome I received while consciously sending out my desires via my thoughts and feelings.
The bottom line is that you have at your fingertips the innate power and ability to improve, at bare bones minimum, your mood and disposition with positive thoughts and feelings, but ultimately you can improve your entire life.
So there you have it. One gal’s trial and triumph in manifesting some wonderful things to fruition. As of today, I read something I wrote aptly titled My Life Blueprint every morning and night that catalogues everything I want for myself and my family.
Is it working? If you are reading this right now…then, yes, I am very pleased to say that it is!
Focus on the positives, refuse the negatives, write your blueprint and believe in the life you dream of. Many, many happy wishes, thoughts, feelings and manifestations to you all, and never take off those rose colored glasses.
