Introduction

With the several different health problems that occur today I believe it is now more than ever important to know the health benefits of herbs, fruits, and vegetables. Basically anything that we can take into our bodies to help prevent illnesses and help cure them as well, naturally.

Cherries, like many fruits can are packed with many different healthy things that can help our bodies. In this hub you will discover the health benefits these popular fruits can offer us.

The Health Benefits

Let's start out with the fact that these little guys are packed with antioxidants, these have been known to help fight off free radicals that may lead to cancer. They have also been known to help aid in the reduction of heart disease. Cherries are one of the few sources of foods that have a special antioxidant known as Melatonin and this one has been known to regulate the heart beat as well as the body's sleep cycles.

Cherries are also known to be a great anti-inflammatory. They are said to help reduce pain and joint soreness especially for those who tend to run or work out a lot. And if you're someone who's trying to work out on your weight cherries can be a great snack choice for weight maintenance.

It's been said that eating cherries can also reduce the risk of diabetes, during present day diabetes cases are increasing, so to know this is great. This is something we can increase in our diet to try to help prevent it from happening.

The following vitamins are what cherries have to offer for your body. Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Cherries offer you 19 more times Vitamin A than strawberries and blueberries. They also offer you Fiber, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Folate and Fiber.

Cherries are an excellent fruit for our brains. They aid in our brain health including our memory, helping to prevent memory loss. They also have a little something in them called Anthocyanins which can help reduce inflammation and is why cherries can help with symptoms of arthritis and gout.

It's because of the good source of Fiber that cherries offer us that they are also great for our digestive system.

They can lower bad cholesterol, which is a huge contributor in strokes and heart disease, while good cholesterol can be increased by them.They are also said to help prevent colon cancer.

They are especially helpful with pain if the pain is caused by any kind of muscle damage you may have.

Tart cherries have been proven to help the body fight aging and neurological diseases that may occur with age or even with out aging.

Not to mention that about one cup of raw cherries has about 87 calories. I think that's a plus.



Conclusion

Cherries are useful for helping with many different things, especially when it comes to preventing them. We might as well start now, shouldn't we? And hey, if you are someone who deals with pain of arthritis then maybe this fruit may just be the you should start eating. I'd say give it a shot. It can't hurt to try.

Nice article. I love cherries and pretty much all fruits. I say try to eat enough fruits, vegetables and other nutritious foods for a healthy body before resorting to vitamins and supplement pills to make up for it.

More over Cherries are low in fat, and have a high-water content, regular use of cherries can increase metabolism and strengthen the immune system. nice work Cresentmoon2007.
