Why these 5 things can really make a difference in improving the physical, mental, and emotional qualities of our lives.
I’m pretty sure these are all things you’ve heard before.
But your probably not doing them, so I will go a little further to explain how each of these affects us and why these 5 things can really make a difference in improving the physical, mental, and emotional qualities of our lives.
Why does water play such an important part of us? Because we are about 60 percent water. By us just breathing we use about 4 cups of water a day. If you exercise you will need to compensate for that and drink more. When your sick you should drink more.
Your water intake can even cause you to lose weight! A lot of people will mistake thirst for hunger and of course they will eat more. It could be that you may be dehydrated. So when you think your hungry drink some water first!
(Don’t try to drink a whole days water at one time, that can actually hurt you. If you are not used to drinking water, start with just 3 glasses a day, breakfast, lunch, and afternoon, otherwise you may be making midnight trips to the restroom. Work yourself up to the recommended 8 glasses a day.)
You might be surprised what not having enough water can do to you.
It can make you tired, fatigued, not able to concentrate, give you a migraine, cause kidney problems, kidney stones, and constipation. Not to mention joint pain, dry skin, dry hair and muscle cramps. Not having enough water can affect your blood pressure and in sever cases it can cause dehydration and even death.
Just FYI - Symptoms of Dehydration
Here are some of the symptoms that you need more water:
Thirst is probably the most obvious sign that you're dehydrated. That’s why drinking one 8 oz glass of water every hour can prevent dehydration, you don’t have to wait until you’re thirsty..
Urine – Orange to dark yellow in color:
Normal Urine is usually light yellow or almost clear when you are properly hydrated. An orange to dark yellow color is probably a good sign that you need to drink more water.
Skin - Dry Skin is our
largest body organ and requires a good bit of water. If you have really dry skin, drinking some water would be a good idea.
Some other things to watch for are little or no urination, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, weak muscles, headache, dry mouth.
I am not a doctor, if these symptoms are severe you should seek medical attention as soon as you can.
It is a scientific fact that the simple act of just smiling can increase your overall feelings immediately, because it releases endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals that are released in the brain that can boost you immune system, and give you energy. These same endorphins are also released while being intimate and eating chocolate. Smiling improves your overall mood and makes you more confident. This confidence is a lot of times a factor in positive relationships and career advancements. Have you ever noticed that when you do smile at someone, they usually smile back? People like to be around smiling people.
Sometimes we forget about people, everyone is someone to somebody, they may be a mother, father, son, daughter, husband, wife, friend, cousin, neighbor, teacher, nanna, police officer, mayor, judge, nurse etc. They are somebody! They all have things going on that usually are not visible. Late for an appointment, going through a divorce, loss their job, about to file bankruptcy, have a family member in the hospital, put up with a ding dong boss all day, short on cash, and on and on. Try to be nice and smile, the smile you give them may be the only good thing they have gotten today.
Smiling at people is giving someone a gift, a gift of health, happiness and even peace. Those are pretty nice gifts to give and it doesn’t cost you a thing!
Some More Benefits of Smiling:
Reduces Stress, makes you feel more relaxed, and, puts you in a good mood. Smiling helps prevent illness, makes you appear younger, its like a natural face lift. Smiling tells your brain to feel good, it can cause your mood to change from depressed and angry to happy and calm all these things will cause you to live a happier and longer life.
SLEEP - MOON SLEEP
Our body uses sleep to heal and repair. While we are sleeping our body is busy working to produce healing proteins that can even strengthen our immune system to help fight all kinds of things including infections.
Sleep can help control blood pressure and cholesterol levels from being elevated.
It improves our memory because as we sleep our brain can organize the days memories and this allows our brain the ability to process new experiences and knowledge which increases our memory. Sleep helps slow the aging process that is caused by the fast paced lifestyle of many of us. Some studies have shown that sleep can help regulate the hormones that control our appetite. When we do not get enough sleep these hormones are out of balance and cause us to have an increased appetite for high carbohydrate, and fatty foods. I just thought if you sleep more you eat less. There are some other studies that shown there may be a link to lack of sleep and developing type 2 diabetes. Loss of sleep over long periods of time can lead to depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. And of course there’s the benefits to your heart, give your heart a rest get to bed.
The best kind of sleep is what I call Moon Sleep, that is to say, sleep at night! Being exposed to light can reduces the level of a hormone called melatonin. This hormone, melatonin, is what causes us to get sleepy and is thought to do all kinds of wonderful things for us including, protecting us against cancer. Some studies have shown that melatonin appears to slow and even stop the growth of tumors. If you can’t sleep at night because of your job or other reasons, than be sure that your bedroom is as dark as possible to help your body produce the melatonin it needs.
Look for the good - be positive!
Being positive, and thinking positive has been linked to our ability to fight off colds, lower stress, help with depression and increase our life span. It makes us feel better both physically and mentally.
It may seem difficult to look for the good when you are stuck in a traffic jam, but you can say, Thank God I am not the one who’s car broke down, or I am not the one involved in that fender bender, or even better yet pray for the people involved when there has been an accident, their life might be on the line!
I know when your ready to check out and someone in front of you is using a check or coupons or both, be thankful you have a debit card or credit card. Be thankful you don’t HAVE to clip those coupons. The truth is, no one really wants to clip coupons, but they do want to get the most for their dollar! A lot of people would like to have a credit card, but sometimes you don’t qualify and/or the fees aren’t worth it to a lot of us. The best way to help you in these kind of situations is to allow yourself extra time. If you have to be somewhere that takes an hour to drive. Make sure you allow yourself an hour and 15 minutes or more. If you get there early, you will probably get a better parking place, a better seat, find out where the important facilities are, restrooms, and, maybe, even start a conversation and make a new friend. Plan your trip to the store in the same way, allow the 15 minute cushion here as well. Something I do if I see that I am going to be waiting in line is pick up a magazine from the magazine section, not at the check out. Something I am interested in looking through. If I really like it I will buy it otherwise I leave it with those other ones at the checkout.
