 Is weight loss totally frustrating for you? So many people find it that way. You try  diet after diet and most of them work for a while if you stick with them. But that is the problem. It's almost impossible to stay on any diet which limits your intake of the types of food you like most and also limits the quantities you can eat.
 
You can stay with any diet for a time,and lose plenty of weight quite often. Unfortunately it's not really permanent weight loss. As soon as you stop the diet and go back to your normal eating pattern the weight comes right back again to where it was before starting the diet.
 
Now it is not impossible to stick with some weight loss diets for the long term. It can be done with determination. Many people  completely change their diet and lifestyle and maintain a permanent weight loss for many years. 
 
But it is very hard for a lot of people to do that. When  dieting they are constantly avoiding certain foods that they really love to eat. 
 
It's hard and many people just can't do it for a long period of time. For some weeks,even months they can stay with the diet. But  sooner or later thay are going to going to return to their old eating practices.Then back comes all the lost pounds. It's the well known yo yo,up and down,weight loss and gain over and over. Most people experience this and become completely frustrated with the never ending fight to keep weight off.
 
Some people are definitely more prone to be overweight than others. It is absolutely true that genes play a prime part in your body build and weight. You can see it in some familys where father or mother or both are overweight and their children follow the same body type. If both parents are overweight for genetic reasons it is likely that many of their children will be overweight also. If only one parent is overweight you may see some of the kids more influenced by genes from either the slim parent or the heavy one. There will be slim and fat kids in the family. 
 
I hate to use the word 'fat' because a lot of people see it as a derogatory term. But it just means overweight and you can call a spade a shovel if you like, but it means the same thing.
 
However the great determining factor in every case is what kind of foods you consume and how much of them. The other very important thing is the exercise you get. All of these factors we have total control over. We all know what foods you should not eat. I don't even need to list them here. They are hammered at us  from  every possible source and we can't help knowing what we should not eat if we want weight loss or to stay slim.
 
What we do need to eat is undoubtedly less well known but we all have a pretty good idea that if  we stick to none fatty foods, plenty of fruit and vegetables with beans and nuts we are getting it right.
 
If we do eat the right kind of foods, don't eat too much and get plenty of good exercise we will not go far wrong. Anyway that's the way many people see it and they can do alright with only that as a weight loss program. 
 
There are some people however who can't seem to lose weight and keep it off no matter how much they want to. About $30 billion per annum is spent on diets, and diet products in the USA.  Vast numbers of publications, so called experts, and even medical doctors all promote some diet scheme or another, and most people simply do not know what to believe.  It is important to attain a reasonable weight because excess weight is known to be a risk factor in Diabetes, heart disease,arthritis, and hypertension.  It is also important to realise that whatever your reasons for weight loss - athletic performance, aesthetics , or family pressure - that you must not take off too much weight. This could result in health problems caused by being underweight and even in increased risk of death.

    There are safe and effective, medically approved weight loss methods.

    1.Keep track of and reduce calories consumed and increase daily exercise.
    2.Raw fruits,nuts and veggies are low in calories and very high in nutrients.  
    3.Avoid all high calorie foods which you know are bad such as, ice cream, sugary desserts and sodas.
    4.Don't sharply reduce calories all at once or your body could have difficulty with the sudden change.  Reduce high calorie foods gradually to avoid metabolic surprises.
