I have always regarded health and fitness as very important. I have not been exercising on my own for the past few years. Fats are accumulating around my abdominal area, my pants are getting tighter by the day, physical fitness is way down. In January 2010, I met sales representative at a Fitness First which is a fitness club in Singapore (and in 20 countries in Asia, UK and Australia). I promptly signed up for a fitness package and that began my journey to keep fit and trim. New Year 2010 resolution to keep fit and healthy.
Personal Trainers at Fitness First
They assigned a personal trainer to me. Ashton See (Singapore) has been providing me with fitness training tips and advice. He got himself into this career as he is a product of good consistent fitness training. He said he was fat and doubled the size he is now. His life was never the same after he stepped into a gym in Singapore about 10 years ago. Then, many of these gyms were operated by Singapore Sports Council. Today we have a good number of Fitness Centres like Fitness First all over Singapore. As a personal trainers they have to be certified to train aerobics and fitness, certified for Heartsaver CPR and AED and various other programs also. Personal fitness trainers have their own specialties like weight loss, body sculpting, core stability, muscle gain and general fitness. They are acquainted with all the fitness machines and equipment available at the fitness centres. I did not know we have such good personal trainers in Singapore. Without Ashton, I would have not gone the distance to run on the treadmill and push myself on the stationery cycling when I felt my muscles aching. The personal trainer helps you push beyond your own comfortable limits and get better performance and results.

When I walked into the fitness centre at Fitness First, I was amazed to see so many many machines and equipment. Without a personal trainer, I would fell embarassed trying to use them on my own. I was given 3 sessions with my personal trainer to get acquainted with the machines. There are the standard fitness machines like the treadmill, elliptical, stepper, stationary bike, rower and wave. There are also resistance machines for chest press, leg press, lat pull-down, shoulder press, tricep extension and preacher curl. The weights section include a station where you will find dumbbells and barbells, and special equipment to help you with use them with ease and safety. At the Cables section, all kinds of fitness machine with cables to develop and tone your muscles – chest, biceps and tripceps. This Fitness First Centre at Ang Mo Kio, Singapore is so well equipped. I would like to say that it is value for the amount I spend each month for my health and fitness.
Group Exercises for Fitness and Health
I am spoilt for choice when I looked at the schedule for group exercises from Les Mills programs. Some of the group exercises for Body and Mind, includes Yoga Classes. There is a full range available like Hatha Yoga, Yoga Core, Power Yoga, Gentle Yoga (beginners), Body Balance, Restorative Yoga Pilates, and also Tai Chi. Other range of group exercises which really make you sweat and have a good work out are Body Combat, Cardio Sculpt, Body Pump, Body Attack, Body Jam, Circuit Training, Total Body Conditioning and sculpt, Fat Burning, and Dance too. You have to pay them a visit to understand the range of fitness exercises Fitness First provide. They have fitness centres all over Singapore to meet your needs. I discovered a wonderful thing - I do not need to pay additional fee to join their group exercises, and I can be there every day of the week. Les Mills instructors and trainers are wonderful people to work with, they are very professional.
Reasons for Good Health and Fitness

- A good time to enjoy quality life with my wife for as long as God wills.
- Find strength to continue working and delivering workshops to impact lives.
- Keep the mind alert to continue learning and relearning.
- Be blessing to the many who surrounds me in life, which God created me for.
