Ways to Stay Healthy
Staying healthy doesn't have to be a chore. There are many ways to stay healthy and active, and by making it fun in the process is what will help you continue along this path. Include your family and friends in the process as well. This will only make your healthy lifestyle activities more pleasurable. So, don't be a couch potato with them! Be the leader by grabbing their hands and pulling them along for some fun.
From outdoor to indoor games, you can make life interesting and fun. Just make it active to stay healthy. In addition to your active games, include the kitchen. No, you're not going to go hog wild on lavish desserts filled with sugars and refined starches! By including fun cooking games, you, your family, and your friends can have fun together by learning how to make delicious entrees or desserts. After all, we love to dine as part of our socializing. Why not make it fun and healthy in the process?
Below are a few fun ideas to help you stay healthy and active. Choose one or two this week, and grab your family and friends for some active merriment.
Fun Outdoor Games and Activities
Part of staying healthy is being active. You can do that with so many choices, from outdoor games to sports. Some favorite games throughout history have been hide-and-seek, kickball, and backyard volleyball. Most of these games can be played with your family and/or friends and creates memorable moments. Not only are memories formed and cherished, but you receive benefit by being active which contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Some other games with children may include Four Square, Chinese or Double Dutch Jump Rope, and Tag. Games with teens or adults may include Frisbee, Paintball, and Capture the Flag. In addition to games, outdoor activities may include sports such as hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, water or snow skiing, biking, or team sports (i.e., basketball, softball, or football).

If you're by yourself, you can get active with a variety of video programs from yoga to kickboxing to cardio with kettlebells. You don't need a lot of space for any of these activities. In fact, you only need enough space where you can stretch your arms and legs. This most likely will be right in front of your television set which is perfect since you will be following along with the video training.
Fun Cooking Activities
Rushing home after work to eat dinner doesn't bring pleasant thoughts of cooking. In fact, we're usually ravished by the time we get home. Therefore, we want to eat and eat now! Cooking sometimes doesn't even get done. This is why drive-thru dining has become big business. The convenience of having food within a moment sometimes seems practical. However, it's not always healthy. To stay healthy, have a snack on the way home. A protein shake, a few nuts, and an apple are great snack sources to tie you over. Or, you may even want to snack on veggies and a healthy spinach or artichoke dip while you are cooking. Food is more appreciated by all who are involved in the cooking activity, so gather your family together and try out new recipes. Make it fun!

Below are five simple tips to help you enjoy cooking whether by yourself or with family and friends:
- Have a positive attitude. Know that you are feeding your body health when you personally pick the ingredients and cook.
- Make cooking simple. By keeping it simple, cooking won't seem like a chore. Besides, who wants to wait hours for a meal?
- Be creative. If you are missing an ingredient, supplement it with another. Trying new things can be fun.
- Relax. Use cooking as a type of meditation. Let yourself unwind from a hard day's work and focus at your task at hand. Play music while you're cooking. By doing this, you begin to relax.
- Enjoy. Allow the aromas of food, as well as taste-testing, bring pleasure.
Some activities you may enjoy with family and friends may include some of the following:
- Looking for recipes. Find recipes with family and friends. Pick some that you all may enjoy cooking together.
- Joining a cooking class. A cooking class or two may be a fun with your friends. It will provide you with new ideas and possibly meet new friends.
- Experimenting. Come up with new recipe ideas with family. Use ingredients that everyone loves, and see what you can come up with.
