Ginger, medicinal plant with multiple properties and it is rated no one in India as the good natural native medicine for common cold, cough, acidity, and stomach ailments. Its almost used heavily in every aspect of indian kitchen irrespective of north or south.


Good appetizer:

Grind about 5 grams of ginger and lick with little salt for the treatment of loss of appetite. Bronchitis; A mixture of ginger powder, pepper and long pepper in equal quantities may be licked with honey or infused with tea three times a day is a very good effective remedy for bronchitis.

Common cold: Ginger tea, prepared by adding a few pieces of ginger into boiled water before adding tea leaves, is an effective remedy for colds and for fevers resulting from cold.

Cancer: Recent studies have shown that beta ionone, a terpenoid found in ginger, has anticancer properties. Tumors induced in laboratory animals grow much more slowly if the animals are pretreated with beta ionone.

Nausea and motion sickness: In Germany, ginger is used as government approved treatment for motion sickness and heartburn. Ginger pieces should be boiled in a cup of water and half teaspoon of sugar added to it then it should be sipped, may help to quell spells of nausea due to morning sickness, food poisoning, gastroenteritis, or cancer chemotherapy.

Arthritis: Studies have shown that people with either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experienced less pain and swelling when they took powdered ginger daily.

Migraines: At least one study suggests that taking ginger at the first sign of migraine can help to reduce the symptoms.

Mumps: Dry ginger is considered beneficial in the treatment of mumps. It should be made into a paste and applied over the swollen parts. As the paste dries, the swelling will be reduced and the pain will also subsidise.
