Can Lower Cholesterol Levels

Grapefruits are an excellent source of antioxidants which can help reduce cholesterol levels. It is wise however, to consult with a doctor before eating this fruit as it can interfere with prescription drugs given for cholesterol management. Even though it is a natural food, taking this precaution is strongly recommended.

Little Things Add Up

When a person desires to make positive changes to their life, making little changes can do big things. Think of what could be replaced in your diet with fresh fruit and how it could benefit your health. Give up soda in exchange for water, and you'll be on the road to dramatically improved health and overall well being.

When Purchasing

In order to obtain the most quality nutrition and antioxidants, it is best to select fully ripened grapefruits. Signs of decay can be found in overly soft spots. Aim for organic as well because they are free of pesticides and their nutrition is more intact.

To Your Health

Grapefruits are a sweet and delicious fruit which can make a great addition to salsas and salads. Enjoying 100% juice is another great way of getting this fruit in your diet. However, for the most health benefits, either juice it yourself complete with the pulp, or stick with the actual fruit. Sometimes juicing can remove a lot of the fiber content, especially when they do not include the pulp. When adding this fruit to your diet, you will supply your body with much needed nutrients which have numerous health benefits. Grapefruits are great for you. However they can negate certain medications. When I was on anti- rejection drugs for my transplant I was told I couldn't have them or drink the juice- this of course is rare- just wanted to share my 2 cents :)0
