The H. Pylori (Helicobacter Pylori) Bacteria

H. Pylori infection occurs when H. Pylori (a bacteria) infects the stomach or the digestive tract. H. Pylori increases acid production causing the protective lining of your stomach to break down. The H. Pylori then makes its way into the stomach lining where it is protected from your immune system. This is one of the factors that makes H. Pylori so difficult to get rid of. Amazingly, this bacteria is thought to currently infect half of the people in the world.

Symptoms of H. Pylori

The vast majority of people with H. Pylori are without any symptoms whatsoever. Children carrying the bacteria are less likely than adults to experience its ill effects. Common symptoms of H. Pylori are:

More common:

  • Heartburn / acid reflux
  • Dull stomach pain
  • Difficulty breathing / tightness in chest
  • Nausea

Less Common, More Severe:

  • Bloody stool
  • Bloody vomit
  • Sharp, stabbing pain in abdomen
  • Difficulty swallowing

These symptoms are typically experienced 2-3 hours after a meal and at night/in the morning when the stomach is empty. They can last from hours to weeks and have a serious negative effect of the lives of H. Pylori sufferers.

Cause of H. Pylori Infection

H. Pylori can be spread from person to person via direct contact with saliva for fecal matter. Water that has not been treated can also be a carrier of the H. Pylori bacteria.

H, Pylori enters your body through the mouth and is automatically carried to your digestive system by your body's natural processes. The bacteria secretes an enzyme that protects it from the harsh digestive acids in your stomach. This is the reason that H. Pylori infection is so common... your digestive system  cannot break it down.

H. Pylori Quadruple Therapy

Quadruple therapy is a 7-day doctor-prescribed regime of 3 antibiotics and an antacid or proton pump inhibitor. Of all of the types of H. Pylori treatment, quadruple therapy is shown to be the most effective with an 85-95% cure rate. However, some people with allergies or sensitivities to antibiotics may choose natural treatments instead. As with all antibiotics, quadruple therapy carries with it a very small risk of potentially dangerous side effects.

Other Natural H. Pylori Treatments

No H. Pylori treatment is 100% effective but there are some home remedies that have showed promising results. Here are a few of them in no particular order:

  • Garlic
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Lots of Water
  • Fiber

Remember to always consult your doctor before beginning any H. Pylori treatment.

Words of Caution

It is common for H. Pylori to come back weeks or even months after a seemingly effective treatment. Symptoms often come back worse the 2nd time around. It is important to be checked for H. Pylori both immediately before and after any treatment. You can ask your doctor to do this or do it yourself at home with an H. Pylori testing kit. Good luck in getting rid of your H. Pylori once and for all!

Unknowingly to me and my doctors i had this idiot of a bacteria in me for 5 years!!!! Doctors are stupid these days, they don't listen! I kept telling them all the symptoms that you could possibly have for H. Pylori including not eating, losing weight which made the question if i had an eating disorder and that i should change the people are me who were telling me to lose weight....I was like, "ARE YOU SERIOUS!" There is seriously something wrong with me. So finally changed doctors and now im on my 5th day of the 7 day course. Praying to God it NEVER comes back cause having H. Pylori has ruined my health and happiness
