Healthy Diets For Weight Loss - Which Vegetables Are Best For You?

When changing your diet in order to lose weight it is a good idea to know which foods should you be looking at eating that would be beneficial to healthy diets for weight loss. One food group that should never be omitted, in fact, it would be nigh on impossible to omit it, is vegetables.

Any diet that promotes losing weight without including eating a lot more vegetables is fictional! Vegetables are at the hub of all healthy diets for weight loss.

This following list provides some of the most beneficial vegetables both for weight loss and for any other benefits they provide.

Broccoli - Broccoli is the first of our vegetables and is fantastically good for you and your attempt at losing weight. Broccoli contains zero fat and is about 60% carbs and 40 % protein.

The carbohydrates found in broccoli are those of the complex variety which are just what we need when losing weight as they take much longer to break down and will therefore keep your energy levels higher for longer.

Also, broccoli contains many other minerals and vitamins beneficial to our well-being, predominantly vitamin E and iron.

Cabbages and Brussels Sprouts – Both these vegetables are very low in calorific value and are named together because they are so very similar . However, sprouts do contain more fibre than cabbages but cabbage is higher in vitamins C and E.

Although both are extremely low in fat, sprouts do contain twice as much as cabbage although if you look at the bigger picture neither vegetable's fat content is worth worrying about!

Both vegetables contain many other vitamins and nutrients including thiamine, B6, folate, potassium and manganese.

Spinach – Ahhh...popeye's favourite snack. Little wonder too as the high levels of calcium in this leafy green help to strengthen bones. Spinach contains hardly any fat and a very low calorific value, half a cup of raw spinach contains only 7 calories.

Other vitamins and nutrients that spinach provides you with are potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, vitamins A, B1, B2,B6, C, E and K!

Leeks – Leeks are extremely low in fat, 0.1 grams per half a cup once boiled to be precise, and they are a super choice for those of you who are not too keen on onions.

As with other members of the onion family, leeks are extremely beneficial to your health as well as to your weight loss. They can contribute greatly to the reduction of bad cholesterol and the increase of good cholesterol and will help to maintain lower blood pressure for those suffering with high blood pressure.

I could go on....

And to be honest, this list could be very long indeed if I did, but the four vegetables above are amongst my most favoured and should be included in every diet without question in my personal opinion.
