Help Yourself Before Asking For Help From Others
Did you ever hear the old saying, "you must help yourself before you can be helped"? This is so true in many areas in life. You can't expect someone to be able to help you with any problem that you may have unless you are willing to help yourself first.
Lets face it, there are so many people out in the world that want to be able to help someone, but they are not going to put the effort into it unless they see that you are willing to do the same.
Help yourself before asking for help from others.
It would be like if you were in bed sick and you know you need a Doctor to help you. Then you would have someone get you to the Doctor's office and ask him to help you feel better. Here, you are trying to help yourself by going to the Doctor, and not just laying in bed feeling worse by the hour. You want to help yourself by going to the Doctor and in return the Doctor helps you to get better.
The same thing goes for any kind of addiction we may have. We can continue down the path of self destruction by using drugs or drinking alcohol, or we can ask for the help we know we need. It's totally our choice on which path we choose to take.
When I suffered with alcohol addiction I was truly embarrassed of my actions and all that goes along with being an alcoholic. I really never asked for help due to the denial I was in and never admitted to myself or anyone else that I had a problem. I would just play it off like there was nothing wrong with what I was doing.
That's the same as the person lying in bed and not asking for the Doctor's help. I'll get better on own" we may say. It doesn't generally work that way.
We all need to be able to help ourselves in anything in life including addictions. This I know is truly a very hard thing to beat, but very possible to anyone that wants to change their life in a positive way and help themselves in every way possible.
Once you begin to start helping yourself in a positive way is when others will step in to help and support you the same.
One of the first things we should always do is to ask the Lord or God to give us the strength, so that we may help ourselves and turn our lives around for the better. Once we have helped ourselves then everything else will fall in place.
OUR GOD WILL NEVER LET US DOWN, SO PRAY FOR HELP AND YOU WILL RECEIVE.
