Home Remedies for Under Eye Dark Circles
Dark circles under the eyes are often due to genetics. If you have dark skin and dark hair, you are more likely to suffer from dark circles under the eyes. As you age, the dark circles may get worse. A bad night sleep may cause dark, as will a poor diet. Nasal congestion may also cause dark circles. Chronic skin conditions such as eczema may also cause darkening of the skin under the eyes. If you are bothered with dark under eye circles and are looking for a way to remedy them, consider home remedies with ingredients you already have at home
Place a slice of ripe avocado under each eye in the darkened area and relax laying down for 10 minutes. Remove and rinse the area lightly with water. The oils in the avocado will help to soothe and moisten the eye area.
Put raw, sliced potato under each eye two to three times a day. The potato slices will help to absorb toxins in the skin and lessen the appearance of dark circles.
Grate cucumber and place it around your eyes. The cooling effects of cucumber are soothing and can help to relieve under eye dark circles and puffiness.
Dab a few drops of olive oil around your eyes to moisturize and minimize the appearance of under eye dark circles. Not only will this relieve the darkened skin, but olive oil will soften the look of wrinkles. Sweet almond oil is another alternative if you don't care for the olive oil. Massage a few drops of almond oil around your eyes right before bedtime.
Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. Buttermilk and yogurt may also be helpful in the diet to alleviate dark circles.
Massage the soles of the feet with castor oil at least once a day. This reflexology action will activate pressure points on the foot that relate to the eyes.
Tea bags are useful in preventing and alleviating dark under eye circles and are also refreshing. Place slightly warm, wet teabags over the entire eye for fifteen minutes.
