Home Remedies for Yeast Infections
You start to feel that familiar itch and just know that you have another yeast infection (Candida Albicans) again. Sigh.
So you start to consider your options. Do you go to your pharmacy and get the cream or tablets again, or do you try to treat it yourself?
If you've chosen the latter and want to choose some natural and healthy alternatives then this page will look at some of the best home remedies for yeast infections that you can try to clear up the itch super fast.
Yoghurt and/or Probiotics
The reason that you usually get a yeast infection is because the balance of bacteria in your vagina gets out of balance. The bad bacteria starts to multiply more than the good bacteria. So to correct that balance you need to replace the good bacteria to get the balance right again.
Many yoghurt's and Probiotics put back the live organisms needed to correct that balance. The best probiotic is one with Lactobacillus as it can block the growth of Candida returning the vaginal environment back to normal.
You can get a good Probiotic supplement from your health food store. Yogurt is available from most grocery stores.
Tea Tree Oil
If you like using essential oils, then tea tree essential oil is one of the best for clearing up a yeast infection. That's because it is both an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial oil. To use tea tree oil, you must first dilute it before you apply it to the vaginal area. Mix it well in a container of water and shake it up to make sure the oil is dispersed throughout. Then use that to gently clean the affected areas.
You should however only use it on the outside area, as it can sting if you try and place it inside yourself.
Vinegar & Baking Soda
It seems that anything can be cured or cleaned with good old vinegar and baking soda, and a yeast infection is no exception.
Try adding a handful of baking soda to your bath water or mix it with water and wipe yourself every time after you use the toilet. This should lessen your symptoms and remove the itch.
Vinegar can be used as a douche to restore the acidity of the vagina which will help with restoring the internal balance. Don't use it straight though, mix 1 to 3 tablespoons of white vinegar with 1 quart of water and use as needed. Often once or twice a day for a week is all you need to clear up your yeast infection completely.
But of course if these home remedies don't work or seem to make things worse, then it's advisable to visit your health care professional for more advice.
