How Can I Get Rid Of My Bad Breath
What Causes Bad Breath And How To Get Rid Of it.
There are many causes of bad breath, halitosis. Heartburn and sinus infections as well as certain foods such as onions and garlic can all contribute to bad breath.
But one cause of bad breath could actually be your mouth wash, if your mouth wash contains alcohol it may be making your problems with bad breath even worse, the reason for this is that alcohol dries out your mouth. This causes a lack of saliva in your mouth which prevents food debris from being washed away. This in turn leads to a build of bacteria caused by the food actually starting to decompose in your mouth. Fortunately if you are having problems with bad breath there are some things that you can do to combat the problem.
Getting Rid Of Bad Breath
Try to brush your teeth at least twice a day making sure to brush your tongue, bacteria on the tongue is a common cause of halitosis. It's also important to floss everyday to remove food particles that may become lodged between the teeth creating odor and bacteria as they start to decompose.
Check your mouth wash to see if it contains alcohol, if so then you need to replace it with an alcohol free brand.
Skip the coffee and drink a cup of black or green tea instead, tea contains polphenols or antioxidants which help to freshen your breath by fighting bacteria in your mouth. Making sure to drink plenty of water during the day will also help by keeping your mouth from drying out.
Using a toothpaste that contains baking soda also helps to freshen your breath, the reason that this works is because baking soda changes the ph level of your mouth which does not support the growth of bacteria.
Try chewing on some parsley, the chlorophyll in the parsley helps to neutralize bad odors. Or alternately you could also chew on a peppermint leaf to help get rid of bad breath.
Gargling with lemon juice is an easy to way to kill the bacteria in your mouth and quickly freshen your breath.
Visit The Dentist
If after all of this you're still having problems with bad breath it might be a good idea to visit either your dentist or doctor. There could be an underlying health issue that is causing the bad breath and if so you really need to get it checked out.
