7 Simple Steps To Keep A Healthy, Balanced and Positive LifeStyle

Updated on September 6, 2012

Your body is the temple of your soul, mind and thoughts. It is not only advantageous to take care of our bodies, but also a duty to ascertain that it can facilitate our souls to continue reside in it for a longer and happier duration. It is of extreme importance to achieve balance in all spheres of our lives, be it body, mind or spirit. Given below are certain helpful tips, which can be used to attain this:

1) Follow a Healthy diet

Try to stick to natural and organic diet. In one of the interviews of a well known Hollywood celebrity, she said that she tries to include all the colors in her day to day food - of course, an easy way to keep a check on what you are eating. Follow a diet that is rich in nutritional content. Avoid junk food, as much as you can. Additional vitamins and herbal medicines can be used as well, for supplements.

2) "Rest", the sweet sauce of labor

It is quite important to spend a balanced amount of time daily, in getting sound and peaceful sleep. Adequate sleep is absolutely essential to heal and refresh your body and mind. Most of the times, we over-exert ourselves to meet our commitments, thereby neglecting the adverse effects on our bodies. It is not necessary to go for long hours of sleep, every time. Whenever, you are feeling exerted, tired or strained, you can simply sit quietly, close your eyes, rub your palms together for sometime to make them a bit warm, and then keep them over your closed eyes. According to the researches, fifteen minutes of palming is equivalent to 6 hours of sleep.

Another way is to take a short nap while you can sit comfortably and relax. In case, you are feeling drained off energy all the time, you must consult a physician.

3) Live in NOW

"The point of power is always in the present moment." - Try to keep yourself focused on current moment. Most of our energies and time are usually wasted in thinking about what we did in past, regretting about it, worrying about its outcomes, and what would come in future. These actions and thoughts can do nothing good, except for adding more stress to your already stressed mind and body, thereby making you more prone to ailments. It is rightly said -

"Yesterday is history,

Tomorrow is a mystery,

And today is a gift;

That’s why they call it the present."

- Anonymous

Life is beautiful; cherish it now, and the wonders will come to you on their own.

3) "Exercise: you don't have time not to":

You simply have to get up and get started. Even when you are planning a routine, get out of that couch or bed. This way you can program your subconscious to understand the need and importance of your exercise plan. There is nothing much that can be added in explaining about the importance of exercises in our lives. Our body is a machine and in order to avoid it from getting rusted, bring it in action, move it and cut off the extras!

4) "The more you stimulate your mind, the sharper it gets":

Mind, is the only thing in this universe, which can only improve and enhance more, every time you use it properly. There are no chances of wear and tear. Of course, derogatory actions will lead to adverse results. But, my point here is that a healthy and fit lifestyle includes both healthy body and healthy mind. Try to learn one thing daily. Engage yourself in the activities you are interested in. Solve riddles, puzzles. Search and explore new domains. Always keep yourself engaged in something or other. This is fun!

5) "Meditation is the tongue of the soul and the language of our spirit" - Jeremy Taylor:

Meditation is an extremely simple task to do, yet quite difficult to achieve. The simplest and easiest form of meditation is to sit comfortable; close your eyes, breathe deeply, and try to get rid of any single thought. The last part is the most difficult part to achieve. "Getting rid of thoughts" actually is not even a correct statement. It is like asking you to "Not think about red box". Can you do that? Obviously not. The only way to achieve "Not" thinking about red box, is to think about blue box. I guess, you got my idea. So, how to get rid of the thoughts? Focus on one thing, and keep your thoughts over it. Try to stop getting diverted by any outside or inside chatter. If performing meditation, while closing your eyes, makes it difficult for you to stay focused, you can simply start with focusing on a single point while keeping your eyes open and concentrated on that point. It can be anything, from a dot made on a paper with pen, to candle flame, or any other object. You can start from a duration of 5 minutes, and slowly extend it, according to your comfort level. Meditation helps you in reducing your stress level and brings peace to your mind, body and soul.

6) Laughter is the best medicine:

Remember the time, when you laughed heartily last time (you can post a comment about that incident, if you wish to, so that I can laugh too!! :)). Anyways, my point is to let you know the fact that recent studies have shown the importance of laughter in facilitating the healing of sick. Laughter also acts as a great stimulant for body cells, for strengthening the working the white blood cell activities, and for reducing the toxins from our bodies. Because of these benefits of laughter, people even religiously follow going to laughter clubs daily. Laughter is effortless, and you can include it in your day to day life, by just joining some online forum to get funny jokes daily.

7) Be positive, and don't suppress your emotions:

Try to write down positive affirmations about your life, yourself and about others. Read these affirmations often. The world is a reflection of your thoughts. Whatever you give out comes back to you. So, if you emit positive energy and positive thoughts, the same will come back to you. Know more about how to stay positive and raise your vibration. Also, never avoid dealing with your emotions. The more you suppress them within you, the more harm they'll cause. Express your emotions, think about positive outcomes, work on them and just release them.

As is rightly said by James Allen -

"Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitable bring about right results."

So, love yourself, stay balanced and enjoy life.

Help me know you better :)
