Age is the primary cause of anovulatory cycles so it's no surprise that as a woman nears menopause, the cycles become less regular and estrogen dominance can be more pronounced. This, Dr. Lee suggests, is the reason for many of the symptoms of perimenopause as well.
Estrogen dominance is more about the relationship between estrogrogen and other hormones like progesterone and testosterone than it is about simply too much estrogen. When hormones are balanced, estrogen is balanced out by progesterone. If progesterone is too low, estrogen will dominate in the body and produce many uncomfortable symptoms.

The symptoms of estrogen dominance are wide ranging and can be very uncomfortable to the woman suffering through them. When I was younger I rarely had issues with PMS. My cycles were extremely regular and I'd pretty much just sail through them without incident. Howver, as I've gotten older I'm finding myself in a different situation. Suddenly, it's as if my body is betraying me. I've personally suffered through many of the symptoms below, including thyroid issues. I'm not sure if all of my symptoms are due to estrogen dominance but I do know that using natural progesterone cream along with taking other measures has helped alleviate many of them. How to Use Progesterone Cream
Progesterone cream is very easy to use. Simply massage about half a teaspoon into your skin twice a day. This is done during the last half of your menstrual cycle, after you ovulate, or on about day 14 or 15 of your cycle. If you're already in menopause, you can use it from days 7-28 of your cycle with a 7 day break. The instructions for use are on the package as well.

Other Things to Try to Relieve PMS
In addition to using natural progesterone cream there are many other things you can do to help balance your hormones. One of these is stress reduction. As difficult as it might seem, it's imperative that you find time to laugh and relax each day and to take some time for yourself. If you're feeling too tired, take a break from working out and say no to some commitments. You don't have to do it all. Getting enough sleep is also important. Try to get to bed by ten o'clock and get eight hours of sleep. Finally, eating well is very important. Some people feel better when they eliminate gluten and other allergens from their diets. It's best to eat whole foods and cook from scratch rather than relying on processed or fast foods.
