Images of Burn and How to Treat , 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Degree Sunburn With First Aid and Home Remedies
It's Summer time which means several things including bbq's, swimming and playing in water and vacations. It also means sunburns. The majority of people don't pay a whole lot of attention to sunburn prevention until it's to late. First and foremost, always use some type of sunscreen. I know this seems elementary, but most people that get sunburns do not use it. Or if you do use it especially in the water, make sure to reapply it every couple of hours. Even if the bottle says waterproof for all day, don't believe it. For one, once you're out of the water and drying off you will rub some of it off. Sand will also cause sunscreen to come off. Even just putting on a shirt or shorts over your bathing suit will cause sunscreen to be removed. Always wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face, which is the most sensitive and thinnest skin on your body.

How to Sooth Sunburn and Relieve Sunburn Pain
So you have sunburn, now what. First of all, get out of the sun ! Many times we start to get a little pink and instead of getting out of the sun, we stay in it and our burn continues to get worse. Once your pink, you're already burnt. A burn will continue to burn into the skin, even when out of the sun. So as soon as you notice your getting even a little pink, put on a shirt, get under a tree or umbrella, put on a hat, go in the house, whatever you do get out of the sun. To sooth the burn you only need two products, Noxzema and Aloe. There are all sorts of fancy sprays that can be used on sunburn, but you really don't have need them. Noxzema comes in a 16 oz. round tub, I keep one around and it lasts for years and doesn't go bad. Aloe plant or the tubes of aloe gel you can buy is good to put on your burn right away. This will cool it and help stop the burn from continuing to get worse.

A lot of people don't realize that sunburn will continue to burn your skin causing your burn to go from a first or second degree burn to a second or third degree burn. Sunscreen SPF and Oil Suntan Lotion
Another mistake we tend to make is not buying a high enough SPF sunscreen. I would recommend not getting anything below a 50 SPF. Stay away from anything with oil as a base. I see oil that will say SPF 15, but it gives you a false sense of security. Anything with oil will burn you.

Sunburn and Skin Care for Children and Baby's
You want to be extremely careful taking children out in the sun. Especially baby's and young kids. Baby's skin is very thin and fair, both of which can cause the sun to have more dramatic effects on their skin. You want to buy the highest SPF available for baby's and children 4 and under. Younger kids also then to get hot faster as well. If their cheeks and ears start getting red, this means their internal temperature is rising and make sure to monitor their heat levels. Heat effects young children and baby's often times more than sun.

Drinks For Hot Weather and Soothing Thirst
A lot of times when we are having Summer fun, we tend to bring sodas to these events. Anything with caffeine will dehydrate your body. Especially with children, water, kool-aid, and lemonade are great alternatives that cool off the body quickly while re-hydrating it at the same time.
