How To Make a Cheap Homemade Bench Press
My homemade Wooden Bench Press
My Home Made Bench Press Set Up
When setting up a home gym the costs can add up very quickly. Luckily you can save a lot of money by making your own equipment. So about a year ago I was given over 100kg of standard plate weights for free. So after they sat in the corner of the shed for a while one day I decided to try and create a home bench press setup. I had some old fence posts lying around so I stacked one on top of the other and the another one on top of the other to the side to form a rectangle shape you can get a bit of an idea if you watch my video at the bottom of this page. Also I placed some padding that I got from an old exercise machine with a peck deck, lat pull down etc.
The Rack
to make the rack I used another 2 large fences posts and cut them to the size that was ideal for me. I then chiseled out a slot in each post to hold the barbell as you can see in the picture below.
Now to make the rack more stable i nailed two pieces of wood to each side of the posts as you an see in the picture below. You could also put the posts in buckets and add cement or you could cement the posts into the ground if you wanted to set up a outdoor gym which would be pretty cool.
So I have been using this homemade bench press for the past few months and it works fine.As you can see it is very easy to make and you don't need any building skills. I have included a video below if you want to take a look. I hope this is helpful for somebody.
