I HAVE A LYMPHOMA/15

CHOP 2 DELAY

This hub should deal with my second CHEMO under the CHOP regime but we have hit an unexpected, though not serious delay

Before the drug can be given, a Blood Test has to be taken and I duly had one on Thursday.Today, being entered into the new state of the art CHEMO centre{ how lucky is that!}, we met our S. Irish nurse ANN who was every bit as helpful as Violet who gave me CHOP 1.

However she had news of a holdup as my blood result showed CHEMO1 had thinned my blood a bit too much. The reading yesterday, a lowly 56. Ann took a new test and went off to check and discuss with the Doctor. She returned to tell me it was 87 today, but the Doc wants 100 to ensure no problems and that if necessary, the blood will clot when needed to. Sense.

So no Chemo for me today, but replenished pill stocks etc and a good chat about side effects and new aids for my tongue, constipation etc.Ann told us to book for next Thurs/ Fri at Reception. and off we went. Frustrating but understandable.

GREAT ASSISTANCE.

At RECEPTION IT WAS NOT THAT EASY! THE 2 EXCELLENT LADIES ON DUTY HAD NO NEXT WEEK SLOTS AVAILABLE, SUCH IS THE DEMAND.HOWEVER, UNDAUNTED THEY CHECKED AND RE-CHECKED, JUGGLED HERE AND THERE AND RANG ANN TO SEE IF 12.15 PM ON WEDS WOULD FIT THE NEED.

THANKFULLY, ALL IS IN ORDER, BUT THOSE LADIES WENT THE EXTRA MILE AND MY GRATITUDE GOES OUT TO THEM. GOOD ,CARING STAFF MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN SUCH SITUATIONS, FOR SURE.
