If you want to lose weight fast, it is important that you follow some effective and proven weight loss tips designed to get your metabolism burning and the fat melting off as quickly as possible.

With the right diet plans and exercise program you can get six pack abs, but it will take plenty of hard work, dedication and perseverance. Stick with the program and you will see results!

How Long Does It Take To Get Abs?

The Truth on How to Get Six Pack Abs

The secret of how to get a six pack lies in the proper balance. Some people think that lifting weights or engaging in a body building program will get them the six pack they are looking for. No matter how often they go to the gym, or how heavy the weights become, those elusive abs have yet to appear. The reason is, you are going about it all wrong!

So, how long does it take to get a six pack? The answer is two-fold, for one thing, it is not simply a matter of time; the right program is just as important, or maybe even more so. You can spend months and months in the gym and never develop the abs you have been dreaming of until you make a few basic adjustments. It's important that the weight loss program and exercise program work together to create the synergy necessary to develop a six pack.

The Fast Track to Six Pack Abs

First of all, it is important to be realistic about how long it will take to see results. Depending on the amount of abdominal fat you currently have, the results may take longer than expected, but it will happen if you stick with the program.

The steps are simple, but it takes dedication, patience and persistence to build sculpted and well defined abdominal muscles.

1. Supplements – It is important to take a multivitamin. The exercise regimen for developing six pack abs can deplete essential nutrients from your body. Supplementing with a multivitamin can help ensure that you receive your minimum daily requirements of vitamins and minerals for proper nutrition.

2. Six Pack Abs Workout – You will of course need to concentrate on abdominal exercises in order to build your abdominal muscles and achieve those six pack abs.

There are many different abdominal exercises from which to choose, but it is important that you work the abs a minimum of three times each week for at least 20 minutes in each session. It is also very important that the exercises are performed using proper form and technique. Quality is more important than quantity.

3. Weight Training – Get six pack abs with more repetitions in each set. Muscle mass is increased through weight lifting and it requires more calories to maintain muscle. So, the more muscle mass you have the more calories your body will burn, even when at rest. This increases the metabolism of belly fat for a leaner abdomen.

Weight training designed to develop abs will require more repetitions with lighter weights. Using light to moderate weights gradually increase the intensity of your workouts, not by increasing the weight, but by increasing the number of repetitions in each set. This also allows your body some aerobic exercise which will also increase the number of calories burned.

4. Aerobic Exercise – Aerobic exercise burns fat and calories which is why it is essential that it be incorporated in any exercise plan.

You should engage in aerobic exercise four times per week for approximately 20 minutes per session for maximum benefit. If you are in good condition, you can extend your aerobic workout periods.

5. Drink enough water – You need to drink plenty of water because your body will become dehydrated while exercising. There is no substitute for water and it is just as essential to our body as the air we breathe.

Drink water regularly throughout the day. It does more than satisfy your thirst, it is vital to keep your body functioning properly and it will help move toxins out of the body.

6. Get plenty of sleep - It is essential that you provide your body with adequate rest in order to recuperate from your workouts. It is during this rest period that your body will recover and be ready for another day and more exercise.

7. Eat healthy – Follow one of the six pack abs diet plans. Eating healthy is probably one of the most important things that you can do. It takes discipline and the knowledge of what types of food your body needs. When you consume junk food, your stomach will show the results. There are many great healthy snacks which can keep you fueled without adding excess body fat. Eating properly is also a great way to not only learn how to lose belly fat, but it will also teach you how to get rid of love handles; these of course, have no place on your hard won body.

Eat healthy and natural foods in order to provide the best nourishment for your body. Vegetables and fresh fruit are rich in nutrients which will nourish your body. They also provided needed fiber to keep your digestive system clean. Avoid sugar and processed foods as much as you can. Many convenience foods contain high-fructose corn syrup which has been linked to an increase in belly fat.

Thanks for your comments nick. While there are a lot of programs promising quick results, the truth is, it's going to depend on the amount of work an individual puts in as well as how dedicated they are to eating the right foods ... and avoiding the wrong ones. Another key component is the condition someone is in when they begin. No program can turn a 300 pound man into a sleek physique with a six pack in 3 weeks. It just can't happen. That's why I always wonder about programs making such claims. Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting. It's always good to hear another perspective.

Thanks... Was already working out. Motivated me more.

But I disagree with one thing. The amount of time you need to workout.

Its better doing 3 sessions of minute workout. 3 times a week. Monday - Wednesday - Fiday.

I well recommend using Passion4Profession's workout in your article.

They are a huge group on youtube. If you are reading my comment guys then search 'P4P abs workout level 1'

That will get you a 6 pack in 3 weeks guaranteed, as long as you already have ridden your layer of fat.

Also on the plus side if you have a layer of fat then this workout is proven to burn fat at the same time.

Thanks sixpackabs58 for your info :)

AFTER READING YOUR ARTICLE ON HOW LONG IT TAKES TO OBTTAIN A SIX PACK, I FIND MYSELF TO BE VERY FORTUNATE DUE TO MY HIGH METABOLISM AND NATURAL SLIM BODY PHYSIQUE.

BEING 41 YEARS OF AGE, WEIGHING IN AT 175 POUNDS AND STANDING TALL AT 6'00" TALL, I CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING TO DO CRUNCHES, SIT UPS OR AB EXERCISES TO LOOK AS GOOD AS I DO, COMPARED TO THE MAJORITY OF MY PEERS.

ON THE OTHER HAND, I KNOW THAT I'M NOT PHYSICALLY FIT AS MY BODY APPEARS TO BE, BEING THAT I SMOKE CIGARETTES AND DRINK LOTS OF BEER BUT AFTER READING YOUR HUB, I'VE BEEN MOTIVATED TO START DOING SOMETHING TO BETTER MY HEALT BY FOLLOWING SOME OF YOUR RECOMMENDED SUGGESTIONS.

I AM VERY OPEN TO ALL OF YOUR IDEAS AND WILL SOON BEGIN TO FOLLOW THEM IN PURSUIT TO MY FEELING BETTER ABOUT MYSELF. I HAVE TO ADMIT, UPON READING YOUR HUB AS SUGGESTED BY THE WEBSITE, MY FIRST RESPONCE WAS TO ANSWER YOU QUESTION IN A HUMOROUS TYPE OF WAY BY STATING THAT IT ONLY TAKES ME AS LONG AS IT DOES TO GET A SIX PACK FROM THE STORE BUT SOON DECIDED TO NOT DO SO AS YOU REALLY TOOK THE TIME AND EFFORT TO PROPERLY AND RESPECTFULLY INFORM US WITH DETAILED INFORMATION THAT IS WORTHY OF RECOGNITION.

WITH THAT SAID, I'D LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT AND SHARING WITH US, YOUR PERSONAL INSIDE INFORMATION. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT I CAN ACHIEVE MY GOALS WITHOUT THE USE OF ALL THE PROTIENS AND AGENTS THAT YOU'RE PROMOTING BY SIMPLY DOING THE DO, EATING MORE HEALTHY AND EXERCISING ON A MORE REGULAR BASIS. THANKS AGAIN LAMME,YOU'RE THE BEST!

RESPECTFULLY YOURS,

A HARDER SIX PACK IN THE MAKING

Hi mozzi, it is certainly possible to firm up your stomach after having a couple of children. Most doctors recommend a multi-vitamin for everyone, what you need specifically will be geared according to your own personal needs and takes into account your age, sex, diet, etc. Just be sure you are getting the necessary nutrients that you need. You might also want to consider looking through some of our articles on wheatgrass juice and or juicing as a way to get great nutritional value, naturally.

mozzi 6 years ago

Hi Lamme,

Thanks for sharing your information. I have set myself a new goal of toning my stomach area and didn't know where to start. I havent read "loosing belly fat" yet, but I was just wandering, after having 2 children is it possible that I can regain some sort of proportion back to my stomach? lol Im not looking for a perfect 6 pack, I just want a nicely toned stomach area that looks like I've almost got a 6 pack lol, if that makes any sense.

And when you say a multi-vitamin, I take my essentials. Is that the same thing?

Hi Eric, I think a lot of people totally miss the importance of diet when trying to develop a six pack. Thanks for your kind comments!

Hi Lamme! thank you for sharing the article. I agree on dean with this. The diet is really important. I've been working out for a year now and this is something I skipped. It's only last July when I started on my diet and thankfully, there are results. Looking forward on reading more of your articles.

Boris, congratulations on your success! I think you have a great idea and I'm going to get to work on an article about "love handles". Keep up the good work, you'll soon have your six pack.

Boris 6 years ago

Fantastic article. I have been working on my abs for 3 months now and can see a 4 pack formed, but not a 6 pack as there is still fat under it (more excess skin from losing 15kg then fat). Anyway, i would love to see some comments or an article on how long it takes to lose the love handles.

Many thanks.

Great article, Lamme. Until now the only six pack I could manage to get was from my local liquor store. This article really makes me think it's possible to buff up the old midsection. Kudos for a very motivating and informative article
