Lucid Dreaming, Help with this one?

Lucid Dreaming

Well, here you have it. I had another lucid dream. What follows are the details I remember and how I felt about the details or what I was thinking in my dream. I have not added any thoughts or analysis upon waking for I haven't done any of my own analysis yet. I'll save that for later, since last time all of you had such great insights to my dreams. This one is a bit harder, as it is loaded with imagery. There were a million things I saw, I only highlighted the ones I paid attention to or stuck with me upon waking and long enough to write it down. The colors were phenomenal. Very rich colors of gemstone fabrics like amethyst, ruby reds, sapphires, emerald greens, topaz yellows and the glittering of gold and silver. The foliage in the dream was phenomenal as well. I wish I was an artist and could recreate images that I dream. Here you are, have fun and thanks in advance. Also, as in any dream, I realize there are inconsistencies and errors in fact - i.e. I know there are not twin hillside stranglers - but hey, its just a dream and not any reflection on my correct recollection of history. :) I look forward to your feedback. Namaste, Erin

The cold case file...

I was trying to solve an old case file, a murder that happened in the late eighteenth century.

It was a gorgeous time in the past, which personally I loved. I had a guide. A tall thin man, dressed finely in period dress, a fine brocade vest and a gorgeous suit. He was approximately 70 years old and his hair was dyed black. He walked me through the door of a large manor house that looked somewhat like the entrance to Mr. Darcy’s residence in Pride and Prejudice. Then the man said, “you really can’t appreciate what this place was like in those days, and how easily it would have been for that murder to have been committed during the day-long masquerade without notice unless you experienced all that was going on. You see, there was so much to look at; …”

As he was speaking, the empty house was slowly filling. Pictures, tapestries, rugs, flowers were appearing out of nowhere. People started appearing one by one and when he would open door to another room, it would be more elegant and diverse than the next. And the music, I heard rich hauntingly beautiful symphony music throughout this entire dream until it changed…

“It was the evening of the masquerade ball, you see…” the women had on rich beautiful full ball gowns, some slimming gowns, but all were in rich fanciful colors and they all either had elaborate headpieces that covered half their faces or carried an elegant mask on a stick. There were circus clowns, peacocks, animals of all sorts, lots of black devils or vampiresses. Some were dresses as ladies of the court, stage performers, witches, goddesses, and things of that sort – but they passed by me quickly – I didn’t have time to take it all in, for he was talking and soon we were off into an outdoor area.

This next area seemed to be the center of the house, a large rectangular stepped garden area with walkways to each area of the mansion and at once I noticed how large this house actually was. Upstairs seemed to be the private rooms, downstairs all the public rooms and from the exposed French doors all along the patios opening into this area; they all seemed to be full.  My mind was creating more and more people and more detailed scenes. Men, both young and old, in fine suits were swinging in on drapes with swords and my guide said “Everyone who was anyone in those days was at this party. Whether you were new money or old money or trying to hold onto the money your family used to have…daughters were here with their parents in search of suitors. The men were courting. The married couples had their own agendas; women, to play some games, and their men, games in business or perhaps something else…” and he’d trail off again

We turned then a corner and headed down a wide grey stone stair into the garden. I noticed some green shrubbery in between the stone walkways. “No!” he said sternly, “this simply won’t do! This is not how it was that night!” And we walked down two more steppes and I turned around to watch the garden come alive. In between the shrubbery grew large green leaves with bold giant exotic white flowers.  Everything started to bloom, there were different species everywhere from golden bright yellows, deep deep blues, vibrant bright pinks, snow white and the most gorgeous shades of green leaves. Vines and trees appeared. All kinds of topiary delights appeared as grand statues of both the Greek and Roman style. It was the most amazing garden I had ever seen, with at least twenty pathways leading to different parts of the house all illuminated now by some unseen source, lanterns, rocks, fires. I was mesmerized.  Even fountains bubbled up in the oddest places.

My guide took my hand, and looking down I noticed that even I was dressed now in period costume. I had on a gown of the brightest blue sky with shimmering silver diamonds in the long skirt. My long gloves were dotted with white pearls. The top of my dress changed color gradually into the most beautiful shades of turquoise and green and my bodice was decorated with tiny seashells.  There was a half mask on my face but I could not see it. “Come my dear, you are the Caribbean Sea tonight. As I said, there are too many suspicious people here…” Jack the Ripper walked by, in costume. Two men swung in when they saw us, blazing with swords and pretending to duel. I realized that most men carried swords tonight. “The twin hillside stranglers” , my companion said.

Just then tiny shoes caught my attention. There must have been a thousand of them in the garden…all lined up in a pattern and crossing with a click one by one. They seemed so sweet and also seemed to be leading somewhere. This is when the music changed. The music then sounded more like an upbeat positive song from the swing era, yes, it was a song you could swing dance to and the thousands of shoes were clicking right along.  At times they would be in rows and go back and forth, like the stripes on the flag and I could just sit and watch; at other times they would seem to be leading me somewhere like falling dominoes. I tried explaining this to the man who was my guide but he just said that it was my case and I had to follow my own leads.

I followed them upstairs and into a bedroom. Through a closet they went and around a bed, even over the lap of a stuffed animal and circled there on the floor for a while.

I woke up in the middle of all of this – following the clicking shoes stuff with swing music still playing in my head. Oh, and as an aside,  the shoes were just little shoes that started out side by side, then would end up crossing each other at the toe, making a clicking sound. No, there were never any feet in them. Just rows and rows and miles of shoes - I've never been a show collector.

So my wonderful dream-interpreting friends….what say you about this lucid dream???

Love and Peace!

...well if it's a dream it's the greatest thing I've ever read at the Hub - or if it's not a dream - then it's still the greatest thing I've ever read at the Hub - either way - we as the reader cannot lose on this one - interpretation dosen't really matter at this point - it's like cinema for the mind - and it allows us to escape and shut out the 'real' world for a little while - and that is what dreaming is all about - a feast for the senses - and it's also about deep sleep or REM sleep which is rapid eye movement - and there's a lot of movement here in your writing and it's flying by so rapidly - like a thrill ride - and after I get off - I want to board this ride again!!

How true Epi, thank you for saying that its the greatest thing you've ever read a the hub, although I'm not quite sure what that means...unless its like the movie cinema that lets you escape into my subconcious for a while. It was a feast for the senses - an overload really. The music was incredible. You would have loved the masquerade. I wish I would have had a mirror in the dream so I would have been able to see my mask, I remember looking for one, but there was none around. Its the shoe thing, it was amusing and totally took my attention away from the ball - but there was a message at the end of those shoes I was supposed to find. There were thousands of dollars tied up in those shoes in my dream! Love and Peace Epi!

Erin, what a dream! If I was a believer in reincarnation, I could have said your dream was about a previous life. And for all we know it could be. But I prefer to be more realistic.

Our memories – even those we can’t remember - everything we saw, heard and thought since the day we were born are always in our minds to move like clothes in a washing machine while we are sleeping. It will take an entire hub to share with you all my thoughts about that movie-like dream you had.

One thought – I always assosiate pretty shoes with Cinderella. A don’t really believe in all the ideas of Freud – a knife in your dreams is actually a-this or a-that, et cetera. I believe what is important is how we feel about the things we see in our dreams. Would we like to have it, or did we have it and lost it... or do we fear it, or trust it....

I would like to know your personal interpretation of this fantasy-dream, and how you feel about all those beautiful colors and gems. And dream on – I wish I could enjoy dreams like yours.

All i can relate is, I want to go to that dance, what an intriguing dream!! I might add that the shoes wanted feet, perhaps you wanted to dance, but this guide keeps pulling you away from all the beautiful activities, could there be someone in your life that would rather see you unsure or unaware of fun possibilities just around the corner. I know from your poetry that you've been cleaning out clutter in your life, could the bright colors, jewels, magnificent gowns, mean a replacement for the clutter? Perhaps when you solve the murder mystery, you are free of all past harm or hurt and you are ready to dance the night away. YEA

I'm inclined to believe in reincarnation, maybe in your past life you worked for Scotland Yard and was working undercover, looking for Jack The Ripper.OMG, i must quit. I could go on for ever. I love this, please know that i am in no way , a professional, but full of intriguing ideas. I hope you have another exciting dream. Great fun my friend.

Love and Peace

Aunt Gerda, I'm so glad you love it - I haven't got time though for all the books you'd love for me to write! (Aunt Gerda LOVES to read!) Love you! xoxoxo

Martie, I am a strong believer in reincarnation, but you know, that never crossed my mind! I'm so glad you brought it to my attention! thank you! We may have avenues open to us according to our own belief systems, I try to keep an open mind.

I also agree with you about memories, and I am a huge Jane Austen fan. I am also fascinated with masquerades and any thing having to do with dressing in costume - renaissance, balls, halloween, etc.

Those colors are my favorites...I'll add more of my own analysis when I've had time to think it all over, I promise. I love your idea of Cinderella and the shoes. Oh and in tarot, swords represent conflict or indecision, and I've been reading tarot for over 20 years so maybe that's worked its way into my dream symbolism. Love and Peace!

Ruby, if I ever get invited to a party like this in real life, know that I am extending the invitation to you all as well! And if I ever get the chance to THROW a party like this, the same applies! Oh it was the party of my dreams! literally, LOL.

Very interesting analysis. I would love to believe that these would be the fruits of my clearing away the clutter in my life! I'll clean even faster if that is the case! The guide, I felt, was keeping me from getting so distracted by the glitter. His point in the beginning seemed to be that he had to reproduce the entire night to show me how easily it would be to overlook the murder when there were so many distractions on that night.

And you are right, I did want to stay and focus on the party for there were so many wonderful things, but I knew that it was all show and not depth - I knew my purpose for being there was not to be at the party. And with my spinal cord operation last year, (real life) I can't feel most of my left leg, so my balance is horrible, I often say that I really miss being able to dance (and walk fast, wear heels, etc). That could have to do with the shoes...

With a shared belief in reincarnation, maybe I was assigned to Scotland yard in a past life - were they around in the eighteenth century? I'm not sure if I was in England or France though...actually I don't know what country I was in, I'm just guessing now. This dream is great fun, isn't it? I wish I had a way to put it on youtube for you all... Thanks so much for your insight! Love and Peace!

Erin, I didn't know about your spinal operation. I'm so sorry. It is so strange, i have a back problem too. Mine is two ruptured disks, sometimes pressing on the saphenous nerve in my right leg. I am not bothered with it all the time, it comes and goes. The Doctor says that surgery is out unless i can't walk. Well so much for bad news. We must get back to the dreams. Here's wishing you have a happy, beautiful dream that we can decipher. Hee

acaetnna, there are so many things out there that can't be explained...and belief and faith are as real and true for all of us, they play into our dreams. I love dreams such as this one! Thanks for visiting! Love and Peace!

Ruby, I wrote a couple of hubs about it last year, they were more introspective about pain and compassion and all that...it was a really tough lesson. I did have the operation because I was unable to walk anymore. But, I can walk now, just have a bit more challenges to overcome! I wish us all the life of our dreams!

Erin, this sounds like you could be dreaming about one or a myriad of your past lives. do you have dreams in this time period often? do you have any sort of obsession or drawing to this time period?

It could mean many things, but that was my first impression upon reading this dream of yours. I would love to hear more! Thanks, Erin.

Well my sister what a beautiful dream. It can be our connection to things of old or be of the present tense.Heres what came to mind when reading your dream.

The mansion of the mind is a marvelous depiction of the different conditions that the mind parts are in. The doors represent the different gifts that perhaps have not yet been discovered but are available to you. The journey outward represent the results of using these gifts that will eventually come to manifestation. The guide when he saw the garden was not happy with part of the garden was pointing out the limitations of your creations from these gifts. Obviously you heeded his warning and recreated flowers etc, because when you looked back those limits were exceeded. Following the shoes and upstairs shows that if you follow the higher self (upstairs) everything will click. Synchronize then.

Kitty, I am very drawn to this time period. In fact, I love historical fiction from this time period. I don't remember ever dreaming about it though - and this was like a dream on steroids. The colors, people, details and my whole recollection of details, even now is so vivid. I don't think I've ever dreamed a past life, and this felt like a dream, but one never knows! thanks so much for your observations!! Love and peace.

My dear sister Penny, heart of my heart, I've missed you!

I have realized my own pattern, that when I dream of houses, it represents the state of my own mind. If they are run down, with holes in the walls, leaks, etc., then I am under too much stress and "am in need of attention or repair" myself. Sometimes I dream of haunted houses, or houses that are terrorized by war etc. and that's usually when I am worried or feeling threatened and hopeless to do anything about it. I've dreamed before of houses where other murders have taken place but they have been scary and felt very dark and there have been secret rooms or hidden away places that I knew about, covered furniture, etc. and in these dreams the houses were also large and stately. This is the first house where there has been a murder, I could identify the time period, all the people were masked and there was a party going on. (but actually it wasn't going on - it was all for my benefit, my guide was recreating the scene from the events the night of the murder).

There were lots of doors, so that is a good thing. I love your interpretation of that. I hope they are more psychic gifts! :) and I like that the direction of the journey makes the difference!

I can understand the garden issue, and I do feel that I have not done as much as I can with the gifts I have been given. If it is pointed out to me, I am the type that will then exceed my limitations to overachieve in order to prove that I am taking nothing for granted. I hate to disappoint anyone.

I am in situations now where I do need to follow my higher self, but I am not. I'm glad you were able to read that from this dream. It is a question I've been asking about directions I should take. Your advice on this is priceless. I am so glad you know me so well.

I'm so glad you read me as well as you do.

Love you sister!
