Manduka Yoga Mat Review

About Me

I've been practicing yoga for about 10 years now and I also do P90X and other activities that require a yoga mat. Over the years I've used a number of yoga mats, but one stands out above all others...the Manduka Yoga Mat. I have two Manduka Yoga Mats - one for everyday use and one for travel. I explain these in this article.

Manduka Yoga Mat Review

Manduka Black Mat PRO

This is the first Manduka Yoga mat I bought. This mat may seem expensive, but it has a lifetime guarantee. I love this mat because it is thicker than most yoga mats. This helps with poses where you are on your knees for long periods of time. The mat also has an excellent grip...I never slip on this mat. As far as the durability goes with this mat...my house flooded while I was on vacation for 10 days. My Manduka Black Mat PRO was in my basement and ended up being underwater for 10 days. The mat recovered fine and is still like new! Another cool thing about this mat is the size - it is slightly wider than other yoga mats I've used and it is also longer - 71 inches. If you are extra tall, they have an 85 inch version! I'm 6'2'' and I find the 71 inch works perfect for me. The only drawback to this yoga mat is that it doesn't come with a carrying case. You can, however, order one (the Large Mat Sak) separately. Here are the detailed specs:

• Zero-waste, sustainable yoga mat
• Superior wear and longevity
• Comfortably cushions spine, hips, knees, and elbows on hard floors
• Slip resistant, yet non-sticky, even when wet from light perspiration
• Provides stability on hard or soft surfaces
• Oeko-Tex certified, emissions-free manufacturing
• Available in two lengths, standard (71") and extra long (85")
• Backed by a Lifetime Guarantee

• Black Mat 71” = 7.0 lbs; 71" long; 26" wide; 1/4" thick

Manduka PROLite

This is basically a smaller and lighter version of the Manduka Black Mat PRO. I take this mat with me when I travel. It is 2 inches narrower than the Black Mat PRO and it is also 1/16 of an inch thinner. This mat, however, is still better than any other yoga mat on the market...just not the Manduka Black Mat PRO! The only drawback to this yoga mat is that it doesn't come with a carrying case. You can, however, order one (the Small Mat Sak) separately. Here are the detailed specs:

• Zero-waste, sustainable yoga mat
• High performance in a lightweight form
• Superior wear and longevity
• Slip resistant, yet non-sticky, even when wet from perspiration
• Travel-friendly for the yogi on-the-go
• OekoTex certified, emissions-free manufacturing
• Five captivating colors: Original Purple, Olive, Pinot, Apricot, Pacific
• Lifetime Guarantee

Nice review of Manduka yoga mats. They really are great and a good investment if you are seriously into yoga. Here is another review from another Manduka user:
