More natural treatments to help treat chronic health conditions
This is the second part of a series im writing about natural health treatments for chronic health conditions. I will discuss many treatments in this part and in other parts, some I have tried myself, some I haven't. Results will vary for these treatments as a lot of these treatments are alternative treatments and haven't been studied or researched as much as some medications and other treatments.
In this second hubpage of the series I am going to discuss Hydrotherapy/Castor Oil treatment, homeopathy, oil pulling, meditation, binaural beats and revolutionary trauma release process.

Castor Oil Treatment for chronic health conditions
Castor oil has been for therapeutic uses for hundreds of years. Castor oil packs is a specific hydrotherapy treatment (I will discuss hydrotherapy in a further hubpage). It can be applied externally on the skin or taken internally to help with constipation. I have used it myself on my abdomen which is how a lot of people with chronic health issues use it. It can help relieve inflammation as well as help with circulation, detoxification and can help with relaxation as well. It can also heal the digestive system and help with digestive issues such as constipation.
While there are a few different methods to using castor oil externally, the method I was taught by a naturopath (Dr. Elizabeth Bussetto in the portland, oregon area) is a simple, easy method. You can get castor oil online and can often find it in places such as Walmart as well and is rather inexpensive as well. In addition to castor oil you will need at least one flannel cloth (the bigger the better) to not only wrap your body but also to put on top of the heat pad/warm water bottle as a buffer/barrier.
While you can use a flannel shirt, whichever shirt you use will be ruined by the castor oil. Castor oil ruin clothes or bedding so use caution whenever you use it. You may need a towel or another flannel cloth to use as a protective layer on your bed to protect your mattress, sheets from castor oil. Typically it is done at bed time or when you are around to going to bed.
It can be done 4-7 days a week, or how often you need to use castor oil therapy. You start by taking a quick hot bath or shower that will warm up your body. After the bath or shower you dry off and apply a liberal coating of castor oil all over your abdomen. After applying the castor oil you wrap your abdomen with a flannel cloth. You can either heat up a water bottle or a heatpad to lay on top of your abdomen and flannel cloth when you lay down. You also need to lay down a towel or flannel cloth wherever you lay down. You may also need another towel or flannel cloth to put on top of the heatpad so you won't get burnt by the heatpad, especially if you plan on reading.
After about a week's usage you will need to clean the flannel cloth, towels or whatever you use to apply your castor oil. If your washer can handle it you can clean what you applied or use with the castor oil, with some clothes soap and baking soda. If not you can soak it in a container of mild clothes soap and baking soda (and lots of water). You will then need to wash it off and let it dry.
Also be sure to get a flannel cloth that isn't itchy (be sure to get cotton not wool), it will be unbearable to use when doing castor oil therapy, and will irritate your skin.

Homeopathy is a system of alternative medicine created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnermann. It is based on his doctrine of belief of like cures like. Believing that a substance that creates or causes the symptoms of a disease can cure the disease.
Over time a lot of scientific research has been done on homeopathy with mixed results. While there has been a few positive studies, they are mostly inconclusive. The benefits of Oil Pulling
Oil Pulling for chronic health conditions
Oil pulling is a relatively new alternative treatment believed to have originated from ayurvedic medicine. I have only done it a few times and it does seem to help some. It can be done with either coconut oil or Sesame Oil. All you do is hold a tablespoon of oil in your mouth and swish it around for about 10-20 minutes. While there hasn't been much scientific research into oil pulling a lot of it has been inconclusive. It is supposed to kill bad bacteria in the mouth (like a natural mouthwash) but also help with detoxification as well.
Be sure to spit it out when you are done as well and not swallow it (which might also cause a gag reflex as well). Also be sure to not have a stuffed up nose or be congested as well. I would recommend coconut oil as it has a rather neutral flavor and is available online, at walmart and many grocery stores.

The mind is very wild. The human experience is full of unpredictability and paradox, joys and sorrows, successes and failures. We can’t escape any of these experiences in the vast terrain of our existence. It is part of what makes life grand—and it is also why our minds take us on such a crazy ride. How meditation can help chronic health conditions
Meditation is a practice that has been around for centuries. Many religions as well as spiritual leaders have taught many different methods of meditation. There are many meditation techniques and practices to try. It has been studied and shown to help with chronic health conditions. It helps induce calmness, as well as help relieve anxiety. I also believe that in higher states of meditation it can help heal one's body mentally, spiritually and perhaps physically as well.
I have written before about meditation and different meditation techniques on previous websites I have run. It only needs to be done for about 10-15 minutes to be effective. I personally like to listen to relaxing, zen like music, sit quietly with eyes closed and do some deep breathing. If you are mentally capable of it (many with chronic health issues may have to work up to it), you can use binaural beats (which I will get to in a bit) to do meditation as well. The two most common meditation based binaural beats are holosync and hemisync. Holosync is primarily meditation with a few other uses. Hemisync has lots of different applications, not only meditation but other healing binaural beats as well.
Whatever method you choose you use, I find any form of meditation can be very beneficial for spiritual, mental and physical health as well. It can also help one deal with anxiety and create a mental buffer that can help those deal with the high levels of stress and anxiety, many in western societies experience.

How Binaural Beats work
Binaural beat applications for chronic health conditions
Binaural beats (or tones) are sounds caused by a physical stimuli. They were first discovered by Heinrich Wilhelm Dove in 1839. In the 1970's they were studied more by Gerold Oster in the 1970's. When two slightly different frequencies are presented separately to each one of your ears, the difference induces a mental state correlating to the frequency range the difference makes up. For differences above 30 Hz your brain is able to perceive them as two different tones/sounds.
The frequencies of the human brain are below about 40 Hz. For example if a 315 Hz sine wave is introduced to one ear and a 325 Hz frequency into the other ear, the different which is 10 Hz would be the brain state induced in the subject's brain.
After study by Gerold Oster they were further developed upon by physicist Thomas Warren Campbell and electrical engineer Dennis Mennerich who along with Robert Monroe created a binaural beat self development technology by forming the Monroe institute (often referred to as hemi-sync). Since then they have been used for a variety of purposes, and a lot of different self help binaural beats and programs have been put out. The other huge binaural beat company is holosync which uses binaural beats for one specific purpose, meditation.
I personally use them to help me fall asleep as well as for anxiety and relaxation purposes. There has been a lot of different binaural beats products developed over time. For meditation and those products that take someone down to a low brainwave frequency it is done over time and once the binaural beat product is over the person comes back to normal consciousness/brain wave activity/frequency.
If you have the time on your hands you can also create your own binaural beats as well. This takes some time and some practice though. If you look it up online you will find many resources on how to create your own.

Through the majority of the book, the author writes about his experiences using these exercises to help heal traumatic experiences and life events using these physical exercises and teaching them to others. These exercises work to help release built up tension and anxiety in the body which is stored in our bodies when we experience traumatic events.
You start off by doing these exercise about every day for a month straight. You can then use them about twice a week to get rid of lingering anxiety, stress built in the body and if someone encounters new traumatic experiences. For those with chronic health conditions, there is often the trauma of dealing with and treating the condition but also outside judgement and criticisms.
