Apple Cider Vinegar and Reflux

What?! I hear you ask. Why use vinegar to help with heartburn or indigestion, that doesn't make sense!

From experience and research, taking apple cider vinegar or even lemon juice mixed with warm water and honey during or immediately before a meal can actually assist in preventing indigestion. Why? We(ll, many are oblivious to the fact that in many cases of indigestion, the cause of reflux is actually due to a lack of acid rather than too much acid in the gastrointestinal tract. This type of indigestion usually afflicts people with increasing age and those who suffer hypochlorydia (a term referrring to the diminished amount of digestive acids in our stomachs).

Apple cider vinegar is useful taken as one teaspoon in a glass of warm water with a little bit of honey taken before one meal or before each meal of the day to assist in the digestive process and thereby preventing indigestion, malabsorption of nutrients form the foods we eat and thus help with heartburn and reflux. If your stomach is too sensitive, it is recommended that you sip this slowly as you are eating especially at the start of the therapy.

Please note however that people with active ulcers (i.e. people who are actually suffering from too much acid in their systems) should refrain from using this method.
