Prevent Osteoporosis & More with Zinc...
There's lots of prescription drugs available for osteoporosis. One is routinely touted by a famous actress and its commercials play regularly on TV; I'm sure you've seen them. The problem with these drugs is their side effects and if you're about to start treatment with one of these medications, then you need to make yourself aware of the possible consequences.
There are different supplements available that aid in bone maintenance and strength including calcium, vitamin D, vitamin K... and now zinc!
Bones & Zinc
Scientists have recently been able to associate bone strength to zinc content within bones. They noted that higher zinc content decreased bone aging, including that associated with menopause. Zinc also seems to stimulate bone formation.
They also found that supplementation with zinc had a restorative effect on bone loss for those with the following conditions: aging, calcium and vitamin D deficiency, diabetes, and fracture healing, to name a few...
The study was conducted by the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.

Maintaining good, strong bones is essential to good health, especially as we age. Make sure your vitamin D levels are optimum (have them checked by your health-care professional). Do your research into vitamin K and its effect on bones, and be sure to supplement with calcium (citrate is the most absorbable form of calcium). Get lots of exercise and don't forget about zinc!
The researchers in the study used AHZ zinc, or zinc acexamate for their study and concluded that zinc supplements should be used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
