Papaya contains flavonoids, which are chemicals that remove free radicals from the body and work as antioxidants. They are helpful in reducing arthritic inflammation and have a healing effect on burns. The anti-inflammatory property of the enzymes in papaya also finds the fruit recommended during recovery from surgery.

Sprout Salad With Papaya Dressing

Ingredients

  • Boiled mixed sprouts – 3/4th cup
  • Chopped apple – 1 cup
  • Orange segments – 1 cup
  • Lettuce – 1 cup
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method

  • Mix into a dressing – 3/4th cup papaya puree, 3/4th cup low fat curd, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Refrigerate to chill.
  • Just before serving, add the dressing to the salad and mix well.

Ingredients

  • Small papaya – 1
  • Small mango – 1

Method

  • Chop the papaya and mango into cubes
  • Blend in a mixer and serve it over ice.
  • Decorate with mint leaves.

Ingredients

  • Small ripe mashed papaya – 1
  • Suji – 4-5 tsps
  • Milk – ½ cup
  • Fresh cream – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Almonds – 2-3
  • Broken cashew nuts – 5-8
  • Raisins – a few
  • Cardamom powder – 1/4th tsp

Method

  • Heat ghee and fry almonds, cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Add suji and keep frying, till it gives off an aroma.
  • Add papaya and mix well.
  • Add milk and cook on medium heat.
  • Stir in sugar and cook for some time
  • Remove from heat, add cream and cardamom.
  • Serve hot or cold
